Opinions on turbo please

Definetly option3!

The other ones are not to great. I call them junk yard specials. They were off perhaps ford t-birds and other factory turboed cars. My opinion on these are stay the hell away!. The rebuilds could be questionable and these are not 'performance' turbos. The 3rd one looks like it has good specs..actually like the ones I sell. That should be a good bet.;)

dont know turbo much...but,

i hear that ebay turbos are garbage...all other parts for a turbo setup off of ebay are ok, but the turbo themselves are garbage...someone correct me if wrong...

I have purchased turbos on ebay actually a couple times. Everytime I had recieved a garbage turbo. Its kinda like playin the lotto:)

But everyonce in a while you get lucky. Take in consideration that a new t3 goes from 700 to 800 beans. If you can get one half that price then you made out ok. You will just end up having to rebuild it for like 300-350 dollars. So if you can get one dont pay more than 350 unless you absolutly positivly knnow that it is a brand new turbo like turbonetics or a garrett ballistic performance turbo. But if you buy factory turbos the usually have horribly inefficient maps. Just my 2 cents

Hey Spoolin, I was wondering if the exhaust manifold you sell can mate with a 16g or does it only mate up with the turbo's that you also sell? Just wondering? I was going to go with this guy that was going to make me a custom exhaust manifold but now I am having a hard time getting in touch with him so I was concidering picking up one of yours! Thanks!

Yes I have manifolds for 16g turbos as well as t3's. But the t3 will have to run an external flange to due some fitment issues with the internal wastegate actuator.

The 16g flanged manifold can be used with an internal wastegate though;)

DON'T BUY A TURBO FROM EBAY! Trust me, 2 turbos later I finally learned. Just save the extra money and buy a new one or rebuilt one. If you still want to buy a turbo from ebay, make sure you go through an escrow company so you can inspect the turbo before you release the money. And do not buy a turbo used, make sure it is at least rebuilt. If it's rebuilt, it should be clean, the hot side should not be rusted, the shaft on the both sides should have a paint mark on it, and make sure there is hardly NO shaft play. There has to be a little, but that's like 2 to 3 milimeters of play. The average price for a rebuilt turbo, should be around $400, a new one should be around $700 to $800 including the wastegate.

Oh yeah, a company called turbo power in California sells reman turbos at a good price. Just search for at a search engine for it and you should find it. You can pick exactly what you want. From the size of the turbin housing, to the size of the blades.
