Does anyone have any opinions on the Kuhmo Ecsta (ASX or SPT) - preferably based upon experience?

If your opinion is not favorable, I would appreciate any opinions on summer-only replacements!!!

Thanks

Just got the ASX about 6 months ago on our P5. I like them. Good value and plenty of grip for day to day driving. Havent noticed any tread wear really so it seems they should last a good little bit!

I have ASX 225/40R18 on my MS6 and I've been very happy with them. Sticky and predictable, not much road noise, comfortable ride. Looking at the SPT and General Exclaim UHP for summer tires.

Lots of user reviews over at tirerack.

I've run the ASX's on my Mustang and I am very happy with them. Great handling in dry and wet. They won't turn hard on you when it gets below freezing. They are also super quiet and they have a great tread wear.

My brother got the SPT's on his stang and I didn't like them as much as my ASX's. They didn't seem to handle any better when dry, but when it would rain, the ASX's did so much better than the sTP's. They also wore down pretty quick and the less the tread, the louder the tires got (almost annoyingly loud).

My $0.02...go with the ASX's. You won't be disappointed.

I bought the same tires at the beginning of October. So far with the weather in Chicago they've done great. We haven't had a ton of snow and ice yet, but with what we've had they've been excellent. They are quiet, have great grip, and other than looking like rubber bands on the stock rims I like them. I based my buy off of price and the reviews on Tire Rack. There were a good bit of reviews with people posting at all intervals of tire life, all of which were pretty positive.

i've had 2 sets and ran them year round...great tires the max summers are....lasted me 40k miles, good in the rain low noise, good grip...and i got them shipped from tire rack for under 400...205/45-17

Ran the Kuhmo ASTs on my Integra. They were a bit stiff, but for the price they couldn't be beat!!

my buddy had them on his wrx and used them for everyday and (sigh) rally.....good tires untill he fliped it. hes good, the wrx is not.

SPTs on during the summer months here. i'm a fan. they were inexpensive, and grip pretty well.

You know, I missed the fact that the ASXs are all-season. The tread design should have given that away to me. I do have a set of winter Bridgestones on 17in wheels.

I SQUEEZED just about 25000 miles out of my OEM Bridgestone RE050As, but man did they get noisy. As much fun as this car is to ram through the twisties, I cannot see spending over $400 more for a set of Bridgestones.

I am thinking the SPTs are the way to go. Goodyears and BFGs are not that impressive to me.

Look at the General Exclaim UHP on tire rack. About the same price as the Kumho, better treadwear (380 vs. 320, I think), one grade down on traction (A vs. AA), 3 or 4 lbs. lighter. Ranked 4 spots higher in reader reviews, based on over 8 million miles logged. As I stated earlier, this is the decision I'm trying to make---I'd be interested to know what you think. I don't have to decide until spring, but whatever I buy is going on my RX-8 wheels. Sweet!

My set of SPTs are very grippy and were nice and quiet when new, but they're very soft and look to be about half gone after only 6000 miles. I'll be very lucky to get 15K out of them. I've checked for strange wear, but they're worn evenly across the tread blocks.

If it exists, I'll be looking for something a little harder next time around.

Interestingly, I thought the OEM BS on my car wore unevenly - outsides wore faster than the insides - primarily on the fronts. I have no noticible pull - I was thinking too much positive camber.

I have the SPT's on mine, I'm very happy with them. Pretty good for the price, good traction in wet and dry. They don't seem quite as sticky as the OEM but still pretty good. Great treadwear so far, I've had them for about 5-6 months.

hella good tires a+++++ me and my friend had them on ur accords atd way way good traction *recomended

I have the SPT's now on my speed 6 and they have held quite well even with the 89 ratingm which our cars suppose to take 91 or more. I am actually going to purchase a next set but the ASX model cause I need an all season tire here in NY. I have read a lot of good reviews on those tires and I wouldnt mind changing to that soon, I guess that will be my christmas gift for my car this yr lol...

BTW the SPT's have a good wear charateristics but, when I rotated my rears to the front, my car seems to not track well at all. I guess cause the inside is more worned than the mid and outer side. I may also need an alignment too...

I also have the ASX. I do really like grip in the rain and on dry roads also the ride of them. They are a quiet tire also. They are a great value for the price.
I don't know how they perfom in the snow. Because i have a set of Tiple Treads AS for winter.

The only thing i don't like with the ASX is they flat Spot a litle when sitting overnight.
