OPINIONS: My last tire fitment question ever!

Ok, I'm getting close to having to replace my SP9000s finally. Hopefully they will last through October, but who knows. I've asked a similar question before.

I have:
*A MP3
*Stock 17" MP3 Racing Hart wheels
*SPOOL springs with advertised 2" front drop, about 1.75" back.

I've been told I should be fine with 215/40/17 sized tires by ARD MP5. I am wondering if I can do 215/45/17 instead? This is a little bit closer in diameter than the 215/40/17 to the stock 205/45/17. The 215/40/17 are slightly smaller as well and I'll add a little more wheel gap with them which I DON'T want.

I'm thinking Yoko AVS ES100s if that matters. I would think this should work since 215/45/17 is stock on the MSP, and people are running SPOOL springs on them without problems. But I want to be sure! Thanks all!

i also would like to got to a 215 on my next set of tires, but also dont know if i could handle 40's with the roads around here.

i also got an mp3 with spools.

Actually its an aspect ratio, so I believe its 40% of 215 (or 86mm) and 45% of 215 (or 96.75), So I'll need room for 10.75 more mm or one more cm :).

I still think its fine because the MSP runs the same size rim (17x7), same offset (+55) as MP3. I can't imagine the fenders are different. And the MSP runs 215/45/17 stock, and as I said many MSP owners are dropped with SPOOL springs. I just wish somebody with the same config/drop would say "Yes DooMer_MP3 for the last time it works!"... ARD MP5? You here buddy?!!? :p.

Thanks for replies!

With the stock rims you won't have any clearance issues.
If it fits on a Mazaspeed Protege, it'll fit an MP3.
That extra 5% sidewall will come in handy.

Alright then. Unless I hear otherwise, my next set of tires will be Yokohama AVS ES100s in 215/45/17 size! I hope our intuition is correct! :p.
