opened up my dp by removing the mid pipe/cat- its loud as hell but i feel like i lost alot of torque, not to mention i installed the cpe cai at the same time.. just so ya know so u dont get your hopes up, then get let down

When you make any susbstantial changes to the intake or exhaust, the ECU needs time to adjust itself to those changes. Only after that happens can you really evaluate the differences.

Yeah its been exactly one week now since my CAI install and with in the past 1-2 days I noticed the blow off valve noise more and more power/response on throttle.

Do you have a ms3 or regular 3? I don't see how having less restrictive exhaust would reduce TQ on a turbocharged engine...

ms3.. i guess ill just have to see if the ecu will learn.. but my sti had to "learn" as well and i can tell you when i ran open dp on my sti you could feel the large increase in power instantly

Your STI probably felt faster becase the waste gate can't flow enough with no exhaust restriction, thus causing boost spikes and creep. You may have even overboosted it. I may get a dp for my car as the multiple cats seem like a big restriction, but I want a quiet exhast so I don't want to jump into a 3" cb yet. As for the intake the car did feel better after 3 days of driving. I didn't reset the ecu after I put it on.

With open dp you should lose tq down low but should pull better up top.

Dont know how much difference it would be on your stock turbo's. But when I was boosted and had my t3, open dp would scream and pull much harder up top.

is it possible i may be getting compressor surge. im just trying to figure this out before i throw it back on...

second gear from 4000rpm used to be a nice throw your ass back into the seat feeling... now its just a little pulling feeling.. after 6000 it feels better tho

any more updates on this? I'm having the same response from my race pipe... Thinking very SERIUOUSLY about putting the 2nd cat back on. I'm trying to wait though as I just put on the new new BOV yesterday and they say together there should be some gains. I don't want to give up my low end torque for noone!!

goes back on tomorrow... at 400 miles since, and i miss the torque... before i took the midpipe out brake boosting used to be a very good advantage, now i feel as if it does nothing...

The race pipe shouldn't affect it that much but what you may be losing is exhaust velocity. Try running a piece of pipe from the DP to the rear of the car or just have it dump under the car somewhere. A little bit of pipe on the end of the DP helps a bunch with some cars.

I hear you... Now that I'm back together... I going to put the BOV back on as that was part of their disclaimer for the HP gains. Did you have one of their BOV? Does holding more boost have that much impact on torque? If the torque comes back or is greater I'll let you know.... Otherwise I'll have the ole cat back on as well.

running stock bpv.. in the same day i installed the su engine mount, cpe intake and took out the midpipe... if i still feel the same loss of power when i put the midpipe back on, its safe to say whats causing it.. waiting for my friends jack now

since my friends MIA and im losing daylight, im going to do it tomorrow..

im going to do some other tests as well tho

since i removed the second cat which actually should be called part of the downpipe instead of a midpipe, im going to try installing it back on and not connecting it to the catback first to see if there are any differences..

like ptp said- there needs to be piping, and after you take out the midpipe it leaves about only 1ft of piping from the hotside to the end of the first cat.

wish there was a dyno around here

I'm headed to the dyno this weekend... if i can find it. Any recommendations for Dynos in Nashville,TN?
