It's true. It's dealer specific. My local dealer is getting 5. I got the first one they received.

so does this mean that i should jump on one asap or wait for em to make more. if they r selling as good as everyone is saying they r then they will make more, right? the one that i was looking at is a sport but its for 25k, YIKES. will the price go down when they get more. does anyone know when they will get another shipment.

shipments come in every couple of months 25k is ridiculous and you should find another dealer, you can find them at msrp which is 22,800. I am sure you will be able to get one in may, the dealers are just hyping them up so they can rip off people.

Don't worry about it. The limited build number, while real is just to get people that panic about that sort of thing to impulse buy. They also had a Per Year build number. I'll be ready for mine in May/June myself. Cars are horrible investments when new. Don't screw yourself financially just to be sure your going to have one.

from what i read they're not flying off the lots!

Some are, some aren't. Bad time of year for cars. Especially when the upper northern states start to blanket with snow. I bet a car with summer tires is a hard sell in any area that gets snow. It's also a price point car. It's a relatively expensive, cheap car. Everyone in the industry gets a little skinny from Nov-Feb. My local dealer is getting 5 MS3s. I bought the first, 2 have deposits on them when they arrive. According to the Madza sales manager, Mazdas have been moving very slowly off the lots for the last 6 months or so.

the dealership here has sold 7 or 8... they got the first shipment of 3 and they were gone really fast...got another shipment of 4 and they went pretty quick. i saw they had atleast one more on the lot last time i drove by...im sure they have sold it by now

if you can get a decent deal, go for it. I paid MSRP for mine. Which is good in this area. I had heard of two locals paying over MSRP for theirs. No details as to how much though.

Don't get caught up in the supposed limited production. If you recall, there were only supposed to be 5000 Speed 6's, and everyone was saying the same thing. Look what happened to that. I think it's more in the lines of 10000+ alone for the 06 model alone, perhaps more. The Speed 3 will be easily available in 07 and in 08, and this is not a car that you have to get now or not get at all. Before you know it, the hype will wear down, the dealership will have lots of inventory, there''ll be incentives, and Mazda will keep making more to fit the demand, likely overproducing them as they have done with the Speed 6, and RX8, and even the Miata. This is a ploy to get people to buy now, and pay near to full MSRP. Subaru did it with the STI, and essentially they all do it.

Don't get suckered in with this ploy. I've seen it far too often, and I know better. Now if the Speed is more of a failure then the Speed 6, then sure, it's possible, but we already know it will be more sought after, and sill sell more, and Mazda will gladly respond to the demand by making a bunch of these. If you want one now, GREAT, but don't think you have to act now, because if that's what's pushing you to buy now, you are feeding right into the companie's hands. BE SMART or BE STUPID. Your choice. :)

im sure it will be like the rest of the mazdaspeeds. theyll make 5k, then refresh it halfway throught the year, producing a few thousand more. then they will do the same in '08. go ahead and overpay now if you want.

Up here in Boston area they are flying off lots. However, I would agree, its stupidly insanely stupid to pay over MSRP for any car. I paid $800 under MSRP for mine, and got a smokin rate on the loan.

The MS6 issues have much more to do with the lack of advertising and poor packaging than anything else. I don't think the Speed3 will suffer the same fate.

^^^^^ The Mazda 3 is simply a more popular car, and it's been outselling the Mazda 6 since it's arrival. Also, the Mazda 6 itself was already declining in sales before this model came out, because it's at the tail end of it's run. It is a heavy luxury car more then anything else that only comes in manual, so it's kind of stuck in it's own category. Take into the fact that people, including myself considered the Speed 6 to be overpriced, so that's why there's all those incentives.

I think the Speed 3 is worth buying above invoice, but the Speed 6? NO WAY. It's a great car, but there's no way I'd have shelled out even $2000 off MSRP for one. The Speed 3, however, is more affordable, and that right there means more success. The Mazda 6 itself is an adult car, and the Speed 6 IMO is more of a fast and sporty luxury car then an enthusiast car.

With that said, I got my Speed 6 Sport for $23500 in July, and from what I have read, they sell for even less then that now. I'd have loved to get a Speed 3, but I wasn't willing to pay the same amount to get less of an overall car, and I certainly couldn't wait until the hype wore off, and they started selling for invoice and below.

I'll be looking at a Speed 3 though in 2008, since I generally don't keep cars past the warranty. As long as they are selling for invoice or below, it's a definite canditate. I refuse to ever pay over invoice for any car, so I hope I'll be able to get one at or below invoice in 08. if not, I'll keep the Speed 6 another year or two and wait for another car that I will enjoy with great incentives. :)
