2006 Mazda 6 MPS GT
Hi everyone. As I've posted before I've been thinking of moving on to a '06 speed6 GT. I've finally made the first step and emailed the dealer. I was wondering what you guys think of what they emailed me as an offer. Oh by the way this is Marty Sussman Mazda in PA if that makes any difference. I know I need to go speak to them directly but I thought I'd start like to to see what they offer me. If anyone is interested this is the car.

Ok. I finally have the price on the '06 Speed6 w/ nav. The retail price on the vehicle is $33,750. That includes the MSRP of $32,800 and the dealer package which includes door edge guards, security etching, and special leather protectant. The invoice price of the car is $30,319. Dealer holdback is $250. I will sell you the car for $30,319 - $250. That makes a sale price of $30,069. Then there is $2750 in customer cash. That puts us at $27,319. If you finance through Mazda American Credit there is another $1000 in MAC cash. That would leave the final out the door price at $26,319 plus tax, tags and doc fees. That is a total savings of $6431. This price is non-negotiable as if we drop the price $0.01 we lose money. I look forward to hearing from you.

Based on invoice pricing and the extras($2315) in the car this price seems fair. But of course I was hoping on a price of no more then $24000. I was thinking of replying with this but dont know what else to say or how to get them to lower the price after they take of that crap dealer package thing.
Well $950 for some sort of dealer package sounds high. What if I choose to get the car without this package. I can buy my own door edge guards, special leather protectant and I dont even know what the security etching is therefore I dont need or want that.

Any help you guys/gals can provide is very much appreciated.

not really sure how you would be successful about bargaining for a car price through e-mail, so good luck to you. Do you really need the nav?

I would call or get another quote via email from another dealer on a car (even if its not a car you want), and use that for negotiating. I talked to 5 Mazda dealers before I pulled the trigger. The email I used in my negotiations wasnt even from the same state I live in.

It sounds like a very good price to me. I purchased a red Speed 6 Gt with leather and Nav. and sun roof when they first came out and I payed much more then $26,000 and change. I'm actually selling mine for $25,000 due to the fact that we are expecting our second child in March. I have to many toys and must make some changes.

oh I dont plan on doing the final negotiations through email, I did plan on going out and talking to the dealer in person. I dont need the nav and I really dont want it, but this is the only 06 speed 6 within 100 miles, but I do like the fact that its integrated so I dont fully mind if its the only I can get.

Thanks I'll try this.

do you mind saying how much more? I'd really like to compare going price from when they first came out to now and see how much of a deal this is now.

There's nothing wrong with that. I've never even seen my dealer in person. I bought my car in CA and I live in MN. I think I was in contact with 15-20 dealers when I was shopping from MN, WI, IL, GA, TX, and CA, to find the right price. Finding the right price depends on how much work you want to put into it. I got my '06 sport for $20.2k at the end of october.

Yeah, he did. IIRC it was from a dealer around Atlanta. They had a huge sale on for a month or so. I was in touch with them about a GT for $22K, but they didn't have the color I wanted and I am picky. Ended up getting mine (GT w/moonroof) from a local dealer for $24,900 plus TTL.

I think I payed about $30,300.00 back in February 2006. In Glendale, CA.

alright, I found a much better one now, at least one that I'm happier with. 06 speed6 with GT, moonroof, compass/autodimm mirror, alarm shock sensor upgrade, and wheel locks for 25,080 + taxes, tags and fees. What do you guys think?

That sounds pretty good. Mine also came w/wheel locks, I have since installed the compass/autodim mirror (which cost me $130), so all total you are getting yours cheaper than mine. Just be prepared for the mod bug to bite hard!

oh yeah, thats what I'm worried about although I've told myself I'm not gonna do much if anything. I was thinking of that XEDE EMS, but only if they get it to plug and play mode and maybe Kens' intercooler. Anyways I still gotta see if I go through with the purchase.

If that was another email quote, wait until near the end of the month and make a trip to that dealer an spend some time going over the car with a fine tooth comb along with the salesman who qouted you that price. Just talk about everything you can think of about the car, taking time to do this. The idea is to almost convince him that you are ready to make a deal that day, sit down go over evrything again, have him put the quote in writing with ALL the particulars. Then ask him to go ask the Sales Manager to take off an additional $1000.00, no if's or but's just go ask him. When he comes back an says the SM won't do it.
Develop a serious case of cold feet and get up and walk out of the dealership. Linger over to the car your negotiating on, If this tactic works
the salesman and the SM will follow you out the door, and they should make another offer. If not LEAVE.

Remember that YOU are in control of whether a deal goes down or not. When you start feeling like they are in control, It's time to leave.

You can always come back in a few days (or again near the end of next month) an get the same deal in most cases.
It worked for me.........

haha, thanks but I'm good :) Actually I came down from my dream cloud. :( I want one but I'll have to wait a few more months while my school loans go down. Probably from november/december I'll see about getting one again.

Thanks for all the advice guys

I just did a quick search on Mazda's site and there are still 7 '06 MS6s at dealers in my area, all GT's. You are NOT going to get a better price than right now. It may go down a little more, but having '06 models still on the lot 2 months into 07 is unheard of. If this is the car you want...buy it new now for the price of a used one.

I'd say the best thing to do is wait until the last weekend of this month...and then walk in looking to try it out. Tell them you're not interested in buying. They'll bend over backwards to get you to buy that day and then they can put it on their February sales report. You've got to be patient with the sales person, go in the evening so it looks like you're just on your way home from work and decided to stop in...and don't let on that you know alot about the vehicle and do NOT smile or smirk. Wait for them to say "what's it gonna take for you to buy this car today" and then make your lowball offer. The deal isn't done until both parties are unhappy.

If 26,3 is the price they'll quote to someone sending an email...they most certainly will go lower if you are there on the spot ready to buy.

So far all the advice is very honest and good advice. I hate playing the game that is a $25k price +ttl. I'd ask for an out the door price, that way you know exactly what you are getting yourself into.

Also, go to www.lendingtree.com and apply for a loan. You get 4 offers and all monthly payments and terms are spelled out. This way you can walk into the dealership with a check in hand and it will go alot quickly and by your terms.

I had a lemon law go through for my first black MS6 and bought a Liquid Platinum in Jan. I got a fully loaded one for $27k out the door. It was a dealer demo and I got an extra $1200 off for that. You are close to Ohio, check Mazda of Kent I think they may have another Demo model and the salesman was excellent.

Lastly, the Nav system, don't waste your money. I bought a Garmin C330 before I bought my car for $300. I use that because it is a million times better than the factory one. I only bought the car with Nav for its trade in value... and the $27k price was hard to beat. Also, if you only want to spend 24K, I'd advise you to look at a MS3. For the performance, looks and price, you can't beat that deal.

Good luck in your search, if you need help with Mazda of Kent, feel free to message me and I'll help any way I can.

yup. got my 06 GT with moonroof, autodim, wheel locks and that crappy cargo net for 24,400. (this was with S-Plan pricing that I get through my company)

Hey guys, went to the dealer this weekend. The offer on the table is $24579 for an '06 GT with moonroof, CAL emmissions, and autodim mirror. It is a demo w/ 1500 miles on it (driven by a manager but its the only non-black one in this area). That price includes the current $4750 incentive from Mazda. They are offering just under "good" KBB trade-in value for my wife's 2000 Corolla ($4700) bringing the total loan to $19879.

According to websites, Invoice on this car should be $28,548 and comparing that to their $29329 price before incentives and trade-in it is about $800 over. Is that right? It seems like the price is close to what everyone in this thread is paying but I don't know if I can talk them down another $1000. They did account for the "demo" vehicle status in their price but it seems like it could be lower. We played hardball with them for over 3 hours so this price wasn't given to use lightly.

I have until Thursday morning to make a decision.

ask to see the invoice on it. i personally wouldn't pay over invoice for a used car.
