Sorry to hear about your misfortune, and I've been there before. I've personally been through more hand made manifolds than I care to remember. That's why I run a cast manifold now.

If you'd like to run a cast manifold, I can offer you a couple of different choices from HiBoost. Let me know if you're interested.

i just took my mani off to get welded...all three main welds are cracked
:( beau offered to fix it for me and have it recoated, but i can't wait and i know he is backed up the ying yang! $70 for the weld+ 120 to get recoated...

update: the fabricator that is welding my mani just called me, he spent 3 hours fixing my mani, he said the original welds were not of high quality and were not V'd out so the weld would hold..(glare) .surface welded..the stress and heat did it in..he redid all the welds, even around the wastegate flange...3 hrs @ $70 an hour..(shocked) .wow! he of course said it would, or shouldn't crack again! pics up tomorrow

Can you explian v'd out welds? This same thing happened to my old manifold before, and I had to have it fixed.

This basically means that where your 2 tubes meet together to be welded you grind a groove into them like this \/ which allows you to get maximum penetration out of the weld. Thus making it as strong as possible. It sounds like the way this manifold was made by just butting the 2 tubes together and slapping a weld around the seam, not all that stong. When you do this (butt weld) you only are joining the top bit of the tubes together. When you V it out the weld goes almost all the way (if not all the way) through the material, tubes in this case.

I almost understand the v groove, but where on the tubes do you put it specifcally? I am a visual learner.

here is a crude drawing of the 2 sections of tubing meeting:

tube 1 on right tube 2 on left

V notch for weld

------\ /------

the V weld leaves room for the weld to penetrate deep making a near 100% joint.

Butt weld

------|------

on the butt weld the line shows where they butt together flush leaving no room for weld to penetrate.

does that help?

Yes, that clears it up all the way. Thanks for the illustration!

if you ever want to receive it back dont send it back to mam

believe me i realy won't do that again last time i sent them the whole kit to make a mani and DP since i didn't get on the first time and when i got the kit back i was missing A LOT of parts so in away i got shafted so my trust isn't where i wished it could be.

Get our manifold and you will have no issues like that in the future. It has been proven that the only manifold that lasts thru the years is the cast iron one. They do not look as fancy, but will work for long time.

Yes, you will need a new downpipe, but in the long run you'll save as having to get the manifold down and weld it again it will even mlre $$$

I was going to get the manifold that Juan is showing, but found a deal on the sleeper tubular. Juan, you keep making those...who knows what will happen in the future.
