Oil Temp Guage Question

If I added an oil temperature sender and a gauge, would that give me enough information to know that the car is safe to shutdown after a hard run? Since the turbo is oil cooled, I am just wondering if oil temperature is a good enough indicator to show that the turbo has cooled to a safe temperature for the car to be turned off.

I am going to do the spin-on oil filter and thought I might as well instal the oil filter sandwich plate adapter to add some oil temp and pressure gauges.

Probably of some benefit. I suspect the cool-down would not register a significant temp drop unless you let it idle for thirty minutes or so. That's a bit extreme, IMO. NE1 else tried this?
