oil pressure gauge

:
06 MS6/03.5 MSP
im looking into getting a prosport oil press gauge, electrical. only thing is, although i haven't checked out the oil filter personally i know its a cartridge type, so because of that i can't use an adapter like the one posted on their site adapter right? which would mean i would have to use the sender that comes with the gauge. anyone have one that could tell me how theirs worked out?

I'm still waiting myself on the spot I can tee off safely so I will be watching this thread as well. I know it can be done on Turbo'd cars but who has done it on a MS6?

I have the guage but haven't hooked it up yet. I planned to do what I found on aonther site.

Basically, it's a serious pain in the ass. You have to install a T off of the oil pressure port, but there really is no room around the port to just screw in a T there. I tried 3 different pipe-T designs and none worked (all of them *almost* worked).

The easiest way is to use a hose (steel-braided) to locate the T away from the oil filter housing. The port itself is 1/4NPT.

This is what I ended up using (in order from the port):
- 1/4NPT-4AN (male) adapter
- -4AN 14" braided hose w/ female hose ends
- another 1/4NPT-4AN (male) adapter
- 1/4NPT brass female T
- 1/4NPT-1/8NPT bushing (for example, this depends on sender)

The stock sensor attaches to one branch of the T, and then you may need a bushing adapter (e.g., 1/4NPT-1/8NPT bushing) to attach the Autometer sender to the other branch. Also, the adapter I put into the port was just a straight adapter and I had to bend the hose around a bit. So you'll probably want to get a 45-degree adapter for that one.

I got all of the parts I used from Pegasus Autoracing (plumbing section, obviously). Make sure to get one of their preassembled hoses, I think it was their Size-4 brakeline hose or something. I originally thought I could assemble my own hose and it's a ridiculous pain in the ass. And don't forget to have plenty of teflon tape (plumber's tape) on hand.

Also, it may be possible to do this without removing the filter housing, but it is much easier to do removed. Look at the spin-on filter conversion how-to on 6tech for intructions on removing the filter housing. Be sure not to overtorque the housing bolts.

I have my gauge installed, wires ran... just haven't hooked it up, been like 4 months or so now.

I am going to get a 6-8" SS hose off the plate, and a tee at the end (OEM pressure switch and autometer sender). Probably do it next week, doing a LOOOT of things to my Speed6 over the next week or so, so I'll see what I can do.

Another idea is just to remove the factory switch (not needed really...) and use the SS line to go from the plate to the sender.
