oil light

My oil light just started to flash it has the right amount of oil. Any ideas?

How many miles have you done?
Could be a blocked oil strainer in the oilpan, or a blocked filter.

the light does not normally flash. If the light says on and the car has the correct amount of oil, stop driving and have it towed to a dealer. Hopefully it is as simple as a bad pressure sender. If there is something wrong and your car has low oil pressure you can do SERIOUS DAMAGE to your engine.

I assumed you have checked the oil level since this started occuring? I once made the assumption 'I checked my oil last week so there's no way it could be low' once before and I was definitely wrong. If your oil was low it'd be an easy explanation but it seems that your pressure sensor is going bad or it's connection is going. I've read cases of this before. Have you checked under the car and inspected the sensor?

You'd either have to have an aftermarket oil pressure gauge or a specific tool used to do so. When my oil pressure gauge started to read really low I had Mazda check out my oil pressure using their system. It turned out that something is messed up with my gauge. IIRC, they charged me $50 for the oil pressure test. Just make sure your oil is full first or they'll have to charge you more to fill it up.

my oil light comes on when i turn left on a curvy road. i noticed this the other day. then it goes away. the thing is that the spoke of the steering wheel blocks the light, so i dont see it unless i move my head awkwardly...

any ideas? im searching right now and i came upon this thread.

That happened to me and I was low...not low enough for the light to be on all the time, but it would come on because our pans aren't baffled and the already low oil would slosh under cornering. I didn't spin a bearing or anything, but I think I might have cooked a seal or two. I would check oil immediately.

So what's your oil level like? If it isn't at "F" then yes, under hard turning you could depriving the pickup of oil for a brief second causing the light. It could however, be as mentioned above, a bad pressure sender or ground. I'd first make sure the oil level is full the check the pressure sender if the light keeps coming on.
