ok, so i just got my car back, rebuilt the turbo, boost controller, boost temp n oil pressure guages. drove the car, it was fine. then i washed it n took it 4 a spin n the oil light was on. but, hers the catch.... its very very dim, barely noticeable. so i figured ill get an oil change, i was due anyway. so after the change the light was on but dimmer. then took the car 4 a drive on the parkway n it got dimmer. its still on but its barely.

i dont understand.. the car performs great. i checked the oil,its really there lol. anybody have any input???

ps- i know im gunna sound dumb, but what should my oil pressure be?

exactly what I was thinking your oil presure is a bit low. What did you have done to the car? Try flushig the oil or run the stuff that cleans the engine (It's diesel) they say it's not good but you probably have a clog in an oil passage somewhere. boost temp, oil temp right?

pressure varies alot depending on temperatures. In texas summer, i'll see 10 at hot idle, 60 at cold start, and anywhere from 35-55 in gear when warm. Your dummy light should only come on if you go below 3 PSI.

Is it possible the stock dummy light wasn't properly attatched when you did the plumbing for your oil pressure gauge?? If it wasn't recieving a proper ground, for instance, it might give an innacturate signal causing it to trigger the light on the dash. Something worth considering anyway.

what i dont get though is why is it so dim??? AND... when i rev, it gets slightly brighter, but still not as bright as it should be. i didnt think the light was pressure sensative like that, i thought it was an either on or off kinda deal. im confused lol, as i said though, the car is running perfect.

Thats it, it should eithor be On or Off (maybe flashing), no embetween.

Geussing....

If its on but dim, there could be a drain of power on its line somewhere where the lights is ON but dimmed.

Check the fuses, alot of times a busted fuse leaves people confused and trouble shooting in the wrong area untill its discovered.

checked all fuses, both boxes. there all good.

i think i figured out the issue. i think the oil pressure guage isnt hooked up properly. it doesnt move at all no matter how fast im goin or what. n ive been driving the car, i know it has oil in it, just changed it yesterday. so yea, i believe thats the issue. bc obvoiusly for the motor 2 b runing it needs oil pressure n the guage is always below 0, as in it never goes on. my temp is always nice n cool. ill call the guy asap though, have it looked at.

thanks for all the help guys. if theres any other suggestions im still listening, thats only a theory i have

hmmmm..... is it possible the senders were mixed up with the wires?? Your gauge should definitely fluctuate. If its not, but your light is... perhaps the wires are just backwards?? lol, thats kinda funny. Hopefully its an easy fix.
