Oil leak

Not sure if you do, but you are supposed to replace the crush washer on the drain plug. And if there isn't a washer, could be a reason its leaking.

Also be careful with the plastic filter cartridge because they have been known to crack if not handle properly.

are you sure its actually leaking and not a sloppy oil change done the last time?

All my other oil changes were done at mazda this is the first time i did my own oil change and yes i did replace the crush washer no oil up top just below the oil pan not even to the drain plug yet.

Did you torque the drain plug to the proper specs? If not, could need a new pan. And then I will lawl.

I had one on my "timing slip cover" not sure if that was the correct name for it. It's been awhile since it has happened. And the first oil change I had the dealership do it and they didn't put the oil filter cap thingy on right and i was leaking oil. Dealership for work on your car is gay. Can't trust them at all. The mechanics need a job so they are gonna jack with everything just so you will come back in a couple of months

the first problem was letting the dealer change your oil. I bet a technician started taking off your oil pan to change the oil and then tightened it back when he saw a drain plug lol.

I had a leak, took 6 months and a call to Mazda to get the dealer to fix it. The dealer said it's normal for Mazdas to leak a little...crap.

Anyways 3,000 miles after the repair (resealed the pan) I am leaking again. Lucky we have the powertrain warranty to 60K otherwise we are all skrewed with these cars, excuse me not with the cars but with the damn dealers. It's always a hassle going there.

I would really check it out and inspect this because when i lifted my car at school to do my second oil change at about 4k miles, i noticed a drip coming from the front side of the oil pan. I took it to the dealer and as depressing as it was i had a "faulty" crank seal as they called it. So be sure to check it out because apparently the mazda factory doesn't know how to install gaskets and seal things properly.
