Oil Filter Location!!!!

I've been using fram filters for over fifteen years and have never had a problem with them.

Don't tighten it too much in the first place, and use sandpaper when you go to take it off, and it comes free. Should just relocate the filter, though, if you don't like crawling underneath. =)
how do you relocate?

I change my oil every 3000mile or 3months, so its pretty frequent. I dont think they we that poorly designed, because why would they sell them.
They sell them because people buy them;) I don't think the $2 savings per oil change is worth it.

You think every product that is sold is good? We cut quite a few filters in half to look at the filter element, and Fram was the worst by a long stretch.

fram sure grips are the way to go, lucky for me I'm a tech for GM and have the use of a lift.
Its not like im a spokesman for Fram. I dont always buy Fram. But i was giving the guy advice because he had trouble taking the filter off. Anyway i used Fram,Puralator and other filters and really never had any problems. They seem to be pretty much the same.

Yep, a simple filter relocation kit, for about $30-40 through Summit Racing will fit the bill, and give you a bigger filter, to boot.

:D So which filter has the best filter element? and what kind of oil filtration tests did you do to reach your final conclusion?

I'm not saying fram is the best filter you can buy, it's just what i've always used.I was saying sure grip was the best because you can get a good grip on them while hand tightening them

Honestly, I don't remember which one was the best. I just remember my instructor made a big point of saying not to use Fram. We didn't do any filtration tests, but looking at the filter element itself, you could see it had about half the amount of filter material, and it was just a cheap paper filter compared to beefier materials in others. I wish I had taken some notes about the other filters because it was a few years back.

Question about K&N .

HP-1008 is the part # but someone mentioned using HP-1010 which is larger but does it have the spring/valve like the HP-1008.

I use K&N because of the NUT on the end.

suomi, I was just being a smartass, but thanks for the info on the fram filter. I may have to start using K&N.

I've felt the grip on the Fram filter. But even though it's more erogonomic, I still like to use the one from the dealer. It only costs me $6.

And I hand tighten my filter. :D

everyone out there thinks changing the filter is simple, huh? i think it's a pain in the ass. maybe i'll try to tighten the filter by hand and leave it at that. i'll let you know how it goes in 3000 miles :)
