Oil dripping from Turbo

Is this normal?

It seems to be coming from the turbo itself, not from any of my oil lines. It isn't a lot, but there's no way I can tighten any of the bolts on the turbo, because of the little "safety" tabs on the bolt heads.

Is something wrong, or is that just the way it goes?

dude, i got the same problem with mine, it seems to be coming out of the turbo itself and mine collects by the water outlet part. sorry, but i dont know if its good or not, but i can use some advice as well. anyone know??

Bump: Terry/FM/where you guys at?

PS-is this picture oriented correctly? Or should it be rotated 90* CCW?

hahaha, i like that line, but yah, i used teflon on all my lines, and mine still had some sweat from the bottom of the turbo, ill check again tonight when i get home, hopefully i fixed the OTHER leak that those fuckers made.

It is a leak right on that steal flange between the turbine and the bearing. Small leak, but it does not seem to be coming from the oil lines, those are all dry (or so they seem).

okay alot of the times when you have oil leaks like that is when your oil pump is to strong and the oil pressure is high in the turbo. you have to find a way to restrict the flow of oil to the turbo. i have tapped the AN fitting to fit a Holley jet to fit right into it and that had restricted the flow, which caused the leak to stop

oh sorry i didnt explain how to do it. Well you have to tap your , either AN or Brass fitting on the side going into the turbo with a 10/32 TAP and the Holley fitting will screw right into it.

This will decrease oil supply to the turbo as well, right? I don't know that it is significant, but thought I would ask.

I would be interested in trying it, just to see if it stops the leak. Just annoying to leave drips behind in the garage, but that's just me. :)

w0w, yours is leaking that much beavis??? what kinda turbo you got anyways?? i hope its not the same as mine. i think i got my problem licked but hopefully you can do the same for yours. good luck man, by the way, what other problems are you having with yours, maybe i can help or can get help. thanks

KeoLa, where was your leaking and how did you fix it?

I really think mine is leaking right out of the turbo. I don't know how much, doesn't seem like much but it is leaking.

The turbo is a T3. Nothing fancy, just the "stock" Spool setup.
