Ok, so I'm workin on my oil cooler idea, first of all, do you think its worth the ~$150 its going to cost to make and install?

(turbo is in my semi distant future)

what exactly does it do to help the car (if anything) my dad keeps on asking me why i wanna get it and "its cool" doesn't cut it.

i was thinking about using a sandwich adapter

and connect it to this cooler with some braided (or not) oil lines (how much PSI should it have to take? im also thinkin of throwing on a oil pressure and oil temp gauge while im at it

Here is the cooler

it would be front mounted right where the horn is (i would move it) and i would put 1 or 2 fans behind it pulling air through

so, whatcha guys think? worth the money and time or should i just screw the whole thing?

if you want to get it but don't know "exactly does it do to help the car", then its time for you to research... you don't go jumping off a bridge when someone says it's cool to do so, do you?

thats kinda what im doing, i don't know where to look, i mean i have looked at some of the manufacuterer websites but not really much help, that is why im asking here

An oil cooler for a boosted application is almost a must, IMHO. I will be running an earls oil cooler, in my stock IC location. Not only will it cool the oil better, it will allow for more oil, approx another half quart, to be carried by the engine. :D

yeah the stock one utilizes engine coolant for the oil cooling, cutting down on tricky oil lines to an air cooler...and there is not a lot of benefit to the engine carrying more oil in a system using a "radiator" type thing, simply becuase that oil is not in the engine...it will be in and in transit to and from the cooler...

zmepro, look into the MSP's oil cooler through a dealership...It is much simpler in a lot of ways, and relatively cheap...it will be all that is needed to keep a good synthetic oil in working shape...
