Hey guys, just curious how long you let your protege's go in between oil changes. I have heard conflicting information, some say 5000km others say as high as 8000km. I have a 2.0 with about 156k kms on it. I don't do much driving on dirt roads and being summer the weather is mild, no hard cold starts. Thanks in advance!

i use synthetic and good brand premium filters at 6,000 miles or six months sometimes for me its 6 months sometimes 6,000 miles but i try for the 6,000 miles most of the time as i get the tires rotated at that interval. i do my own oil changes (i dont trust lube shops) and then swing by discount for tire rotation afterword since its free with the tires purchased there.

6,000 miles in 6 months? Must be nice. I've put about 15k on my work car in 3 months and 23k on my daily in 9 months

I use Amsoil Signature Series which is good for up to 15k Miles in most engines, and 25k miles in specific engines. I base all of my changes off of oil samples showing my metal readings and TBN. The Amsoil is allowing me to go 10k miles or 1 year for my changes with no harm to the engine. This saves a ton of money and I get full use out of my oil. A lot of the Synthetic guys changing at 6k are potentially wasting money since the factory interval is 7500 miles, and they are still changing early. Its up to you, as basic maintenance is the key and as long as you regularly change it you will be fine. I'm just showing my sample results to prove higher mileaged intervals are safe if you do it correctly. Besides the hole in my intake causing some dirt ingestion, you can see my last 2 samples show great oil properties and I need to make sure my filtration is good.
