Greetings!

Seems to be some controversy reading thru the oil change threads on oil capacity. My manual says 6 quarts. Some other dude said differently.

What say you? Did you put in 6 quarts?

5.5 quarts filled mine to the max fill line on the dipstick

But then you start the car, the oil flows back up into the head, and it wasn't near the max line anymore.

6 qts though.. damn that's nice. I had to upgrade my oil filter to a much larger one to get FOUR quart capacity!

wrong. 5.5 quarts put in after full drain and filter replacement. drove it 20 miles @ about 80mph and it was @ max line.

It's 6 quarts. But if you've replaced the your oil and filter yourself, put in 5, check the stick, start the engine & let it run, check the stick again and put in as much of the 6th quart needed to get close to max. You don't NEED to be at max, but you defintely do NOT want to go over max. I think the volume of oil represented between the min and max lines is roughly two-thirds of a quart.

Regardless drain your oil until your content. Install the oil pan plug, new filter etc. Add 5 quarts of 5w 30 and check the level on the oil stick. Open that sixth quart and fill until it's full on the oil stick, install your oil cap and start the engine for a minute or two. Now DO NOT pull the stick and say "oh now she is 3/4 of a quart low" and top it off. I always wait a minimum of ten minutes, pull the oil stick and check the level. Your oil will settle into the pan bla bla bla thus raising the oil level on your stick. If it's between the low and full mark, I leave it and check it the next morning to see if it raises any further after sitting over night. If it needs some added, I add it etc. You don't want to over fill the oil on any car especially a turbo'd car.

well my owners manual says 5w20 for speed3
The very early manuals said 5w20. The current owner's manual and the service manual says 5w30 for the turbo. At some point they decided it needed 30 weight.

I mix 3 quarts of each. That's like 10W50 right?

My manual also says 6 quarts when changing the filter and says only to use 5W30 (API ILSAC Certified ... or SM if you're outside the US and Canada).

2.6 Quarts of fluid for the manual transmission (GL-4 Rated 75W90).

7.9 Quarts for the radiator (FL22 Type) (with a water/coolant mixture appropriate to your climate, of course. :)

DOT-3 Brake Fluid (though I can't find the capacity)

Anyone changed their brake fluid yet and know how much brake fluid the MS3 system takes to flush the old stuff out? I'm about to order some Super Blue but can't find the capacity anywhere.
