Oh My Godddd!!!!!!!!!!!

that bumper is fiberglass, it was in a huge thread a few months ago.

Your loss in the parking lot would be "collision" not comp. So hopefully your deductible is low. Unless you bought the OEM endorsement for your policy or its included in your policy language, they will put on LKQ (like/kind/quality) or used/refurbished parts, which cost less than a brand new oem bumper would. You may need to check on your policy first. Chances are, if your deductible for collision is $500 and you dont have the oem endorsement, a bumper would probably run about the same as your deductible which would be pointless in filing the claim.

sorry for all the jargon, I am a car insurance material damage claims adjuster so i see this everyday.

The good thing about having an MS3 is it's not likely an adjuster will find an LKQ bumper for your car since it's different than the 3. They're few and far between. I'd be more worried about an adjuster writing repair time on that bumper than to replace it. I would definitely file a claim though. I think just the cover itself for our cars are over 400.00, plus about 2.5 hr of labor to overhaul it and then the refinish time. The absorber behind it may be damaged as well. You're well above your deductible and not at fault, assuming your deductible is 500 or less. It's not a chargeable loss.

Best of luck!

Similar thing happened to my son's car at his high school a month ago. Never found out who did it. Repair costs were about $1,300 (bumper cover, fog light, paint, and labor).

Think FMIC while the bumper is off!

sound like a wicked dad. Mine would have killed me if i tired to put an FMIC on a turbo car in highschool!

I wish I had the money for that. I'm just gonna wait till the spring and pay the extra for a AutoExe front bumper.

Happended to my friend a while back, just take a sludge hammer to the s*** and completely **** it up. THat way they gotta pay for it all :) Ha ha, but that wouldnt work in your case.

Also, I know someone who got keyed on a door at a bar and me and him went to town on the rest of the door. Climbed on the roof and scratched **** you into it and scratched all the other panes too.

Came out with a fresh new paint job :)

but shhhhh dont tell anyone :P

DOnt do that

By chargable loss, you may want to look at the surcharge amount because in a state like NY, even if the insured is not at fault, if the damage payment is above $950.00 a surcharge will be applied. In his case, I would still make a claim, even if the damage is about $1,300.00, it would be worth having it fixed and most likely he will get a good part because of the lack of MS#s around.

You can always ask about a surveilance camera although sometimes they would only do it if insurance or police ask for it.
