Official 'Smoking Turbo' response from Mazda

catch can hoses

installed a catch can, didn't seem to be working all that well. Purchased hoses with a high psi rating, for ag work or something, can hardly compress the hoses at all they are so ridged. But, the catch can fills up on a regular basis, seems that the flexable hoses were collapsing. just my two cents

Just talked to my dealership on the phone and they stated the O2 sensor is making my car smoke...WTF? Anyone have a response for that?

Update: Went to the dealer to pick up to the car (06 MS6) and talk to the service rep. So they did see the smoking and acknowledge that there is a problem there. They started by performing a PCM scan and found that the O2 had tripped a code. They tested the O2 and found that it was not giving stable readings and that it is bad. So they want to replace the O2 and say that they cant properly diagnose the issue until they can get a clear PCM scan. Then they say that if the car still smokes after the O2 replacement (it will) then they will continue to look into it. I am guessing that all the burning oil screwed up the O2 sensor. Something tells me that i am going to be in and out of the dealer quite a bit in the next little while.

Somno, which dealer did you end up going to for the repairs?

Well, I went to Sesi Volvo dealer since it's right up the street. I went there just to get an oil change since I didn't have time to go anywhere else. While there I talked to the service manager and he was very cool and very up to date about the smoking turbo issue. Told me to take my MS3 to Sesi Mazda the next day and get a full synth 5w change for FREE instead of paying for a regular change like I was ready to.
He said bring it back when it still smokes a couple weeks later and they will call Mazda and have them come take a look to approve me for a new turbo or not. He was cool and the tech who worked on my car at Sesi Mazda was cool. I will shut my mouth about anyone else I dealt with that day. Let's just say that every problem I have had at that dealer has come from one person and unfortunately there is no way to avoid that person. (braindead

The O2 does not operate properly because of the smoke. When my car smoked it would throw a code of O2 sensor slow to respond and this was due to the smoke. I put in 5w40, installed a catch can, and up'd my idle rpms to 950 and i no longer smoke.

My thoughts exactly, good suggestion on the higher idle RPM. Did you need a COB AP to do that?

I FKN HATE STEALERSHIPS!! Went to BROWN & WOOD Mazda today in GREENVILLE, NC and asked them what they could do to help me. The Mazda Service guy there gave me a half-assed answer to the whole "smoking" issue. He said that the CX-7 as well as the SPD6 was NEVER designed for 5W-30 and SYNTHETIC oil. He told me that using ANY kind of 5W-30 or FULL SYNTHETIC (ie. even 5W-40) will destroy the engine. The fkd up thing was he as admitting this on behalf of Mazda but was unwilling to do anything to help me. What an Unremorseful FCK!! He also went on to say that I should replace the PCV valve and look to spend some money doing it cause it's NOT under warranty. Now, the valve itself--im not gonna complain about. BUT, if the whole crankcase according to tunersteve's TSB he released comes into mind, the question sis---what's the point of doing it?

Does anyone know a dealership I can go to around Greenville, NC that can help me with the PCV/smoking turbo issue??? 100+ miles is not an issue.

what? that is BS man
if your car is sill under warranty they should replace PCV valve and change your turbo if its bad

Yeah, my car is still under warranty. And I have extended warranty too. I may have to go to a Mazdaspeed certified dealer about 50 miles away..

if they know that you PCV valve is bad than they should do something about it

if your car is under warranty than they should replace it, if they say no just tell them that next time you gonna bring you lawyer to resolve this issue

i can't ******* believe mazda, they will try to do anything they possibly could not to fix our cars

Well, the guy looked like he was in his fifties and I was about to punch him in the face and knock his damn teeth out cause he was being such a fkn dick! He was basically saying that he wasnt gonna help me regardless of what i tell him and i was basically telling him i was gonna beat the crap out of him so --feeling sorry for his wife and kids--i spared him. The next dealer will not be so lucky.

I got my PCV replaced under warranty so that guy is full of s***. Call Mazda and ask them, get them involved. Although having pissed off service techs working on your car is nothing I want to risk.
Unfortunately you are probably better off going elsewhere but whatever you do BAD MOUTH THE s*** out of that dealer and NEVER spend a nickel there.

So I'm back to check in to see if the March release date for the PVC fix was just more smoke up my tailpipe... ha. Anyone got any new news?

My car JUST put on a little smoke show in the drive-thru at Mickey D's... As soon as I noticed it, I shut the car off, let it sit for a minute, and restarted it...It stopped, just like it did the last two times this has happened to me over the past year and a half. (dunno)

LOL. It's sad that our engines are having to turn back to the techniques from the days of the VW Diesel Bug Van to clear this crap.

An update as in... is there a fix coming soon or am I going to be getting a while new turbo? Or am I just going to get screwed?
