Sounds like a convoy it is. This may be a dumb question, but did you guys do this before or is this the first spring cleaning. (new to the site and car is only 2 weeks old). either way looking forward to it.

hmm, what's QEW? Your 1st link doesn't work.
Hmm, strange, try this link instead. or try first hit in this google search.

also here's another QEW tutorial, if those don't work. it also has a good description of QEW:
QEW is unique in that is does not require rinsing after washing, making washing as simple as a couple gallons of water. It is anti static and water repellent, so it is unique in the way it washes and comes off, both the paint and the mitt you use. There are a few other imitators out there, but none have promised and delivered as QEW has. QEW will not scratch or harm your finish when used correctly (used correctly important here).

I haven't yet learned how to wash my car faster with QEW than with regular wash... regular wash takes me about 1-1.5hrs, QEW seems to take about 2 hrs or 2 hrs 15 mins.

Still, it's friggin awesome when your hose has been put away for the winter, but you have a nice and clean car in the middle of a 33 degree day, like I did in this photo (note not much water splattered, so the driveway is not a skating rink). My first QEW wash had more water spillage, but still, car was nice and clean.

I just need some nice waterproof insulated long gloves so my hands don't kill themselves while I'm washing.
I found it ain't too bad when you start with warm water.

no prob...this is the first offical spring cleaning thread for next year....we've got to have something to look forward to over the winter :) (man i hate winter(pissed) )

we just got togther a couple of wks ago to do the blackout your headlight mod...anyway, it's just an excuse to meet and do stuff that others like to do too!

Dude...I totally agree. As far as the waterless carwash goes, I may have to try it out this winter. I thought about last winter, but just went to the touchless carwash instead since it uses high pressure nozzles to remove all the salt, even under the car which gets the worst of it all.

My local gas station has one of those high-pressure touchless washes. It is pretty good but it doesn't get everything.

I'll start with scalding hot water in that case. I did it last winter but my garage last winter was.. heated and cooled, annd well insulated. This year it's a 2x4-construction garage, uninsulated.. hooray.

Scalding hot water will destroy the clear coat. Just ask my mom. She tried pouring hot water in her door jam to unfreeze her door one day...it took the clearcoat and some of the paint right off leaving a dull finish to the car doors.

Use warm water. Do not use hot water, like Chris said. Hot water is bad.

You sure it didn't just cloud/dull the clear coat?

touchless FTW (josh said waterless???)

Hehe...I meant no hose needed. Can do it all in the garage without one. That was my one good perk about living in western MA. At my old job, the office was part of a converted KB Toy warehouse. It had 4 huge 18 wheeler heated garage bays that I could go in and use at any time after work or on weekends. Inside I could stay toasty at a comfortable 70 degrees and wash my car, while it would be 20 degrees outside. Good times.
