Official 2026 Mazda CX-5 Pics and Details Released

On the korean cousins, do this...
Close the front doors at different levels of force and listen to the sound of closing.
Then do the same for a cx5. Pretty sure you will notice quite a difference.
Our old optima had the lightest doors, which felt really cheap after a while...

I've noticed that on recent Hondas and Toyotas we and the extended family have owned. I was shocked the first time I heard my wife's CX-5's doors close. It was very refreshing.

Interesting. Maybe on lower end models, but the Telluride has very solid doors. Easily equal if not better than the '21 I CX-5 I had.

While car reviewers on the tube have started yammering about how the CX-5 looks like a BMW since at least the 2022 updates and present it like it's a good thing, I personally think it reeks of wannabe. Mazda should be Mazda, not a "I got a BMW from Temu" boast.

we have a '22 telluride...been decent so far...but you can see evidence of inferior parts and bad design...i won't even speak about the awful dealership support for warranty work...probably won't buy another kia in the future

Can you elaborate? I would love to know what to look out for on my 25.

must be local bad dealership experience. I have access to a new Sportage and beside oil changes nothing so far. Its great interior too and much more comfortable ride vs the CX5

they have a long warranty to trick you into thinking they stand behind their product when it's exactly the opposite...they will fight you on any warranty work...

you will see little things start to fail...rusting exhaust tip, weak windshield (on our 3rd or 4th now), driver seat memory does not work, infotainment hiccups, etc....things don't take long to start...we had a mystery oil leak at 1700 miles in front of the front passenger side wheel that the dealership could not figure out and has since not returned luckily...probably not a priority with all the engine replacements they typically have going on due to high oil consumption (which i believe we may be starting to deal with)...*tip* 5k mile oil changes or less and do the valve cleaning procedure for carbon deposits...gdi engines without port injection can be a problem

as far as the dealership experience...i brought our '22 with 37k miles into the local kia dealer for a leak on the seal between the engine and the oil filter housing...all i know is the source is higher than the pan or the filter cap due to where i can see oil...i wiped it clean and had a hard time establishing the exact source of the leak...i suspect it's temperature dependent...cold outside park it in the garage where it's insulated and then it leaks or when it cools it leaks...it's not consistent...when i talked to the dealer right off the bat tells me they charge a $130 if anything has been modified...the only things i have are a fumoto oil plug valve and the autostop eliminator...dealer took it for a drive a few times and could not reproduce the leak and said everything is in good working order...but they wanted to charge me the $130 for the fumoto valve cause they consider it a modification even though they did nothing aside from top off the oil (was midway on the dipstick when i brought it in)...they ended up not charging me after some "discussion" and said not to bring it in with it installed or they will have to charge me (in my head i read that as ok so basically i won't be coming back to this dealer)...they also never reinstalled the plastic shield and bolts...just left it all in the back of the car...wondered if this "modification charge" consistent across all kia dealers or it was just this slimy one?...ended up buying another housing and replacing myself

i have been doing most of my maintenance myself...i don't trust the dealership and i def am not trusting a quick oil change place to not crack that cheap plastic oil filter housing...been buying oil filters and oil from online sources so i have receipts and keeping a notebook for records cause if any big warranty work is needed they will try to screw me saying the maintenance records are not adequate and i assume i will have to fight with corporate anyway but i would rather not give them any more of my money if i don't have to

good luck

I guess time will tell. I read good and bad experiences with Kia and Mazda all the time so it isn't isolated to Kia. I am at 3500 miles and going in for my first oil change today (along with a software recall update for the emission system). I don't plan on adding any aftermarket stuff (although I do have a piece of plastic to keep the auto start/stop system from working. I guess I will remove it before going in today.) So far the car has been great and build quality seems quite good (at least as good as my CX-5). No regrets.

i have read more bad with kia than mazda...yea def take that out just in case...i installed the autostop eliminator on ours so we don't need to jam something in next to the button to keep it depressed...it just gives the button memory...was worth the $100 to me

Exactly. Former Hyundai owner here. Never again, and you'd be hard pressed to find anyone who got engine warranty work at 98,000 miles..
