Official 2026 Mazda CX-5 Pics and Details Released

I drive less than 3K miles a year… hopefully my '25 CX-5 will last the rest of my life 😅.
I noticed something more disheartening than the giant infotainment screen in the '26 CX-5… the primary center AC vents. The infotainment screen has pushed them down to approximately stomach level, and they look small. In my '25 CX-5 those vents are about mid-chest level and decent sized.
I live in the U.S. Deep South, where summer temperatures can reach 100 degrees Fahrenheit with high humidity. When you get in a hot car here, you want maximum cold air on your face. Those new vents look inadequate to me, if you live where summers are hot.

nobody knows. They cost cut so many things in order to keep the price in range with all the new tariffs, larger space and account for the extra electronics and infotainment, etc. cheaper plastics inside, no more sdcard and local Navi, super cheap buttons on the steering wheel, no more buttons for AC and infotainment, leave only 1 engine to streamline production, etc.

Its a miracle they are able to offer lowest trim at around 30-31k :) but highest trim is now same as cx50 and lower trims cx90/70 with discounts.
Its a fact that now there are other car brands in the higher trin price range and I am not sure the CX5 is that competitive anymore vs other options.

Does this mean the sheet metal on the new CX-5 may be thinner than the current version?
Using thinner sheet metal is only one of many ways to shed weight from a complicated steel body structure. Use of high strength steel and modifying stamping and casting methods are examples of others.

Not a fan. Except the color. That color is incredible. But Im Glad i got the 2025.. not interested in having a big screen tv on the dash.

So it appears that the 2026 CX-5 made it to the US. YouTube is flooded with videos presenting the new car somewhere in California. But not one video about the driving experience. Everybody is showing the interior and other features which we already know. I am still searching, maybe we'll finally see a review about driving experience.

Something about an embargo until February 23. That's when the driving review videos will be released.

So was that also for 2025?

No. For whatever reason, Mazda indicates all the trim levels for 2026 as 3856 lbs. I think that's just an oversight with Mazda and that they'll update the specs eventually since the 2026 is still an as yet to be released model.

For 2025, Mazda shows on the website different weights depending on the trim level. All this information again is on their website. For the base and select trim, the weight is indicated as 3679. The next three trims are being shown as 3752. And the final upper trims with the turbo engine are showing as 3871.

That's turbo weight but without the turbo.

The Hybrid will definitely be over 4000.

I bet they put the larger brakes on it.

I should hope so. The turbo got the CX-9 front brakes. Maybe they will go with CX-70/90 brakes for the hybrid....

yea curb weight for year 2026 shows (as of now) 3856 for all trims and yes front brakes are larger diameter. Its larger car and no wonder mpg drops.. plus the car will be most likely slower with the non-turbo engine.

year 2025 is
3679 - select and pref (na engine)
3752 - carbon and prem plus (na engine)
3871 - all turbo engine trims

front brakes 2026 - 12.9in

front brakes 2025 -
non turbo - 11.7 in
turbo - 12.6 in

fuel tank - 15.3 both 2025/2026

2026 -
length 184.6in
width 73.2in
ground clearance -
s/select - 8in
pref, premium - 8.2in

2025
- length 180.1in
width -72.6in
ground clearance
7.6in and -7.9in
