obd 2 scan cable

i don't have $100 to buy one, but im sure it would be easy to make one. ive been searching the internet for two days now and have not been able to locate the schematics for an obd2 scan cable for my laptop. does anyone know where i can find them?

you can't just buy the connectors and rig up wires on both ends... there are electronics involved in converting the ISO 9141 to a RS232 signal
