Why get a car alarm?? I'll tell you why, so you can watch your car get jacked up by stupid theives.
Last night at 3am my car alarm goes off and in my dazed 3 in the morning mind-set, I go out to check on it. There are three guys breaking into my car. I then say something like
"Get away from my car you (bad explatives)!"
I then get the response, "Get the f-ck away or we will beet the sh!t out of you!!"
Well, after determining that I am not jackie chan and out numbered, I go back inside and call the Police. Watching through my window I watch the messiest thieves in the ****'n world.
Keep in mind that the car alarm is going off the whole time. After they popped the locks to get in the passenger door, they also pop the locks to get into the driver's side door. Then the alarm is still going off so they CROW BAR OPEN THE HOOD and cut the battery lines trying to turn off the alarm.
The alarm is still making noise. Then the other guy tries to pull every fuse out of the fuse box, just ripping at it. The third guys is trying to pull the amp out of the back of my car. After they determine they do not know how to turn the alarm off, they then pull the deck.
In the end, they only got away with a single amp and my cheap deck(without the faceplate). But in the process really f-up my car. The insurance guy estimated over $1400 in damages alone.
Now this just sucks because my car hood does not latch right now, the doors still lock, but I need to use the electronic door opening thing since the key no-longer fits, the door handles/locks are all F-ed up, and the earliest the body/repair shop can see it is monday morning.
The good news is that the alarm probly prevented them from getting my full stereo, CD's and/or stealing the whole car. The police showed up about 10 minutes after they left. Three other cars on my block were hit as well so my alarm probly prevented other cars from getting jacked too.
Sorry for the long story, but it just pisses me off that people do this kind of thing. I do not think that I am going to put another stereo in the car now. It is just not worth it if people break into your car and do massive damage even when you have an alarm. (btw, I do not play my stereo within a mile of my house either)
