Not another SRT-4 thread!!!

I know how you feel about that!! When I traded my MSP in they were only going to give me $10k for it. I fought and bitched with there used car manager for an hour. He finally gave me close to 14k for it. I had 17k miles on it, but they didn't know about the electrical problem issues with it (it would almost die if you launched hard, my alarm module died again and one of belts was coming off one of the pulleys(have no idea).

I traded it in on a Silver '05 SRT-4 and that thing is a monster in 2nd-3rd gears. With all the stuff I had on my msp this thing is still faster than my msp was. You can flame all you want but I do like SRT-4 and have been on the boards for a while. My MSP was fun to have and work on, but having alarm module go bad (twice), having a coolant leak, head unit kept locking up, warped/rusting rotors, crunching struts (when cold), front/rear bumper lips (3.5) falling off, car almost dies at a hard launch and the clunk got old after a while. The service departments out here sucked and wouldn't replace anything w/o a good reason (even if you had tech bulletins). To me the msp almost did feel like a time bomb waiting to go off. My friend spun a bearing in his titanium MSP and all it had was a turbo timer wtf! I felt like mine was going detonate on me (BOOM!). But I'm glad to see peeps on here are building up there MSP motors the right way on here now.

Ah well, I still like the forums here. And once I mod the SRT I will post some pics. After new years I'm planning on going Mopar stage 1 suspension (sway bars & springs) and Mopar stage 2 w/ toys. :)

Oh btw mp5jeff you still crack me up, go get'em!!:)
This is a great example of a good post!!! I hope you stay around on the forum even though you have a SRT-4!!! This is a great forum and I would hate to lose good forum buddies!!!

I admit, I love reading the fighting threads. It's like a soap-opera. Nothing like laughing my ass off over a beer and reading forum cat fights!!!!(cool)

Wow! Thanks for the compliment apocman. See members like you would keep me here posting and trying to help out as much a I can. Because I own a SRT-4 now doesn't mean I going to change. I'm just going to be mello like always, not no cocky SOB because I picked up a SRT-4 (stereotypical, usually being a punka$$ kid mentality). I actually have to respect the new found power in this car. Definitely could end up w/ tickets or in a pole w/ this thing. But turning 30 this year I think I have learned my lesson from the past w/ my other cars.:)
I LOVE THIS FORUM!!! Thanks all!

I can relate to "learning your lesson" I recently got rid of my sportbikes I never crashed bad, but I had became comfortable riding at 179mph+. I would do it out in the middle of nowhere and on good roads with full gear etc., but I knew my ticket was going to get punched at some point; just a matter of when!

I test drove the 05 (thought they stopped making them) srt-4 today, and I must say I don't like it. Very uncomfortable (I am a big guy though 5-11, 200lbs). The power was ok, not as fast as my msp though. Overall the whole experience from the car down to the sales guy left a bad taste in my mouth. The idiots said my car was only worth $9,000!! lol

Oh well, thought I'd share my experience.

Before anyone gets they're knickers in a twist, this is just my own opinion. I'm sure a modded srt would spank my msp.
dave, (sorry if that is not your correct name)
your speed is faster than the srt-4?! really?! i owned a 2004 srt-4 for a year (just got rid of it a few weeks ago - have a 350Z now) and of course - during the whole time - i had my 2003 speed. i love both cars - both have their own strengths - ... if your speed is faster.... i'm impressed.

i am not trying to attack your statement - obviously - i have never driven your car. i just find it to be curious. i am just coming from a point of view of an owner of both cars. i did drive my speed more often because i preferred its handling. though i still switched between the 2 cars every week.

when i drove the srt-4 and stepped on the gas - i always said daaaaaaayum! for example: i would get on to the highway (there is always the people who like to go about 40 mph onto the highway - to me - that is just asking to get steam rolled by a semi... anyways) - i could throw it in to 3rd gear, stomped on the gas and it never failed to impress me how faster it would rocket off!

i must give you a lot of props for at least test-driving the srt!! most people i come across who do not like the srt-4 have never even sat inside the car. at least you actually drove it once - even though it wasn't a good experience!

yes - i agree with you - the srt-4 will not be comfortable for a big guy like you. the seats have those high upper and lower side bolsters. if you did not fit in between those high sides - it was just not a good feeling.

unfortunately, the sales man was right about the value of the speed - i am not sure if 9000 is the correct amount but i know that it is very low. sad but true! you would have better luck selling it yourself. it is the same with the srt-4 - very low trade-in value. we sold our srt ourselves.

Haha, you got a pretty clean mouth for a "registered pimp". You scream at your hoes with that mouth, boy? Tsk tsk.

i dont see why you all get bent out of shape over other cars, its like you guys are die hard msp fans, all of a sudden mazda puts a turbo on a family car, and you guys think its god, get off your higher then all MSP kicks, congtats you bought a car thats comp for a civic si.

I do like having a car that no one knows wtf it is. Makes me feel good.

Threadjack: I am going to shave my trunk and remove the spoiler. Then no one will know what it is. I will leave the Mazda symbol on the trunk that is it.
No one ever knows what kind of car I drive. :D

Just wondering but when he went to sit in the SRT-4 did it have the Viper seat option? Cause those are kinda of uncomfortable if you are tall or any size. The normal seats work fine and hold you almost as good.

MSP: Measured Wheel HP - 150
Measured Wheel Torque - 150

SRT-4: Measured Wheel HP - 223
Measured Wheel Torque - 250

In looking at the mods on your MSP in your sig I can only say that your butt dyno is ill. This HUGE difference in power and torque generally works out to be about a 1.6 second advantage for the SRT over the MSP in 1/4 mile times according to all the mags. You'd need one hell of a built up and boosted MSP to be faster than a stock SRT....and those numbers above are for the 2003 model.....the 2004 has the Stage 1 injectors stock and has as much as 10 more HP and 5 more ft. lbs. of torque.

We still currently own an MSP and I had a 2004 SRT-4 for a year (just sold it) and as far as power and acceleration, they weren't even playing the same sport. We kept the MSP though because we are not straight line people and prefer to have the amazing handling of the MSP to the power of the SRT-4. I upgraded to a Z now so I have the best of both worlds plus RWD :)

When I had all my mods on my MSP, I ran dead even with a friend of mine who has an 04 srt. He had a aem cai, and a 3 inch downpipe. I had unichip, fmic, 2.5 turboback, injen cai, and thats all. IMO the srt isn't all its cracked up to be. I've driven a couple and didn't think they felt all that powerful compared to my car. I did put down 240 whp in my car though.
