If it was the belt, it wouldn't run. The engine would come to a pretty quick stop as the valves got slammed by pistons.

In this vid a rod broke. likely too much boost. Time for a new engine for sure and if he wants to boost it, have it done by someone in the know.

I was thinking it was the belt because it did start and run, but just for a second. I doubt that too much boost at the time of the failure was the cause either. You don't make much boost when you're just starting the car.

If boost was the cause for a catastrophic failure of the rod, then it was too much boost over a period of time.

that's what I meant and why I also said if he wants to boost-it, have it done by someone in the know. my guess is he was broke out the video camera to record a knocking sound he likely had been hearing. Now he knows what it sounds like to have a rod banging around in there.
