Northeast MSPers--

Only problem with lowering is the snow clearance. The other problems with lowering/stiffening we'll have anyway, whether we lower or not. Same rules in winter as off-road: too much roll stiffness reduces traction. A more supple suspension helps in that rough beat-up snow. On most roads, though, it won't matter much since the road itself is flat enough. A decent set of snows will do just fine, better than any SUV on all-seasons.

how much driving do you do in the winter?

I buy cheap tires for winter, with steelies, but I don't drive much at all in the winter. Back and forth to work, and some errands that's it. No highways for me, no long travels. My rims/tires with studs and installed were 545 + tax Canadian. Granted, I got a deal, but even the non-deals around town were less then 600 installed.

Get 185/65r-15 for better fit . Although my dealer stuck 195/60-15 :( on mine. Went to put them on today, and I can't get the damn wheel locks off ....S#$%#$ #$% #$%!@#$% @#$% @!

Well, I USED to drive a lot in the winter -- but that was with my old s***-kicker, before I got the 'Speed. A '93 Dodge Spirit. That thing was a tank, though, and I wouldn't have been particularly upset if I'd crashed it into a tree.

Anyway, I don't do a lot of driving anymore -- only to classes, to work, and errands. Don't want to build up the miles on the MSP! However, I DO make a 200 mile drive back to Philly every three months or so -- to see the family and all that booyah.

Will a 200 mile drive like that, nonstop, have any effect on the MSP when I have the winter Pirelli's and steelies on, with the MSP lowered? I can't think of any reason that it would, unless I tried to drive that long through a foot of snow, but God only knows.

And as far as turning my MSP into a snowplow .. If the snow is THAT bad when I really have to drive somewhere, I'll just take my boyfriend's car. He only has a lousy 2002 Dodge Stratus R/T, anyway.

And, oh, random question -- anyone else's back paneling seem to be coming loose, from the subwoofer vibrations? I'd been thinking about having my two 12" JL W6 subs put into the MSP .. but if the paneling's gonna fall apart, maybe that's not such a great idea. The rattling is driving me insane.

that won't hurt the car at all. If you have it lowered, take that into account when getting your tires. 185/65-15 is for a stock speed

no idea for a lowered

lowering won't change what size tires that you need in order to keep the speedo functioning properly...

i do 75 miles a day over the mountains for work, so that's what i'll be doing in snow. i'm hopin to drive down south once or twice during the season though. for that i may take the highways down to maryland on the snows then swap the stock wheels back on before continuing down to north carolina, just so i don't do 1500 miles in the snows when there isn't any snow on the road.
