Exactly. You can spin it any way you like. I disagreed with pingdums spin on car pollution, and still do. Cars are produced to enhance peoples' lives. Sure, people abuse them by driving 3 blocks to the drug store when they could get off their lazy asses and walk, or by buying a 12mpg SUV, or by racing and killing others etc. Cigarettes are produced for no reason other than to get you addicted, and profit the maker. There is really nothing good about them. Sure, they make tax money, but then one could spin it on paying for the very s*** they don't support (the war, etc).
Look, I smoked up to a half-pack a day for a year or two, and have almost quit, but still can't kick the habit when I have a few drinks. I think they're evil.
Either way, this is so off topic from the original post, and from my original reply, which merely pointed out that smoking bans in restaurants, theaters, malls etc, aren't to try and make the smoker healthy, its to keep the 2nd hand smoke away from those who choose not to engage in the habit - Which I believe is reasonable. And its not like I stamp peoples cigarettes out when they light up in front of me. A lot of my friends smoke, and I don't try and stop them.
