Non Roof Rack Strips for a P5?

Do they all have the four little slide in plastic caps? The ones that ar about 2'' long and are flat?

I thought the non-roof rack strips would be completely smooth all the way across?

Anyone have pictures of this....and what are they for?

yea... it doesnt follow the design of the roof rack so its smooth... or is there lines... sorry... ill have to go check... its too dark and late outside to go downstairs

My strips have four little sliding tabs which cover the attachment points for the Canadian style roof rack.

The sliding tabs have transverse lines on them so that one's fingers won't slip when trying to take them off or put them on...

well, the 2003.5 pr5 had an option with or without roof racks, so, i am thinking that we could just rip out our rails and drop the stock weather stripping in the channels.

I believe they all have those removable pieces. the only way to get around it would be to fill the hole and repaint the whole thing (body matched FTW!) or make an all new strip.

Does anyone here know how to remove (in a replacable way) the stock strip? Do you remove an end cap first, does it slide off, peel up, or break beyond repair if removed? I want to see some details beneath it (want to install roof rails, don't like Mazda's offerings...)
