Have any of you had any good dealings with a trunk rack type bike rack?

Like the one in the pic here!!

I just don't want to get a roof one...

Any suggestion of a place online, or here in T.O.

Would a regular one fit, this pic shows a Suzuki Swift, so looks like it may fit..

those are universal ones you can get at target... I've seen them. Cost around 50 bucks.

Yea they will fit, are you sure you want to do that to your car though?

Have you thought about a hitch mounted rack?

I added a hidden hitch trailer hitch installed for less than $150. It doesn't look bad at all since all you see is the cover. All the structure of the hitch is hidden behind the bumper.

This way nothing touches your paint, and if you get a swing away bike rack you can still open your hatch with the bike still on the rack.

Hey there

I used a Yakima Mighty Joe for a rear mount. It has a special bend in it to accomodate the spoiler. The only problem is that the straps come down off the top and rub the spoiler, so I used pipe foam to wrap the straps with. It was really solid and easy to take off and put back on. Skiis and bikes sells them here in Toronto.

Personally though, I went with the Roof rack, they are just so much better in the long run.

If you don't want to go with the roof rack, I'd suggest going with the hitch mount. You may also find a hitch dealer in town that can custom make a hitch and convert a rack so that you see nothing when the rack is off. The only thing is that you can not tow with it.

We have one here in houston that did my hitch. They can make one where the receiver points down under the bumper and the rack will go up to it. Very slick. He did'nt do mine like that, but he's done a friend's TT so that it was totally hidden. FYI, the guy modified the hitch for a New Beetle for the TT.

If you are interested in a hitch mount bike rack here is a good place to start looking http://www.rackattack.com These guy's specialize in rack mounts and hitches for vehicles.

This is where i'm getting my hitch and bike mount installed tommorow. Can't wait!! Oh and these guy's also carry the strap type bike mounts if you are still interested in one.

Just take out the rear seats, fold them flat and put your bike inside..LOL. I can fit 2 - 3 bikes in the back this was but I have to have both wheels off on each bike.
