Noisy suspension in cold weather - Have you had it fixed?

This has been the coldest winter since I've gotten my Deuce in 2011. Consistent -10*C temperatures and below bring out something I've never experienced in any of my older cars: noisy as f*ck suspension after sitting outside for some time. Loud and harsh popping/clunking noises at every bump/uneven surface. After it warms up, everything is fine, but I can't imagine it getting any better as time goes on and my Mazda getting older.

I noticed a few more references to this in the reliability thread. My question is, have any of you had it looked at and/or fixed at the dealer? Surely this is not something we should just accept.

Anyone?

You're not alone. i think my slightly-too-tall snow tires are covering up my suspension noises though, by beating the hell out of my fender liners. :-/

I had this issue a few months ago, and ScorpioGTX had it as well, I believe. I had more of a creaking/squeaking noise going over bumps. I had it fixed at the dealer and they lubricated the bump stops, and that seemed to fix the issue. They mentioned a technical service bulletin about this exact issue, but I can't remember the number at the moment.

Thanks, Grasshopper.

I've had the rear shocks lubed for a creaking problem 2 years ago, but this is much louder and coming from the front. I'll be seeing the dealer soon.

The dealer finally managed to get the rear shocks on our 2011 to be quiet when cold, only took them 2 sets lol.

The rears on our 2013 squeak too, I'll wait until just before the warranty expires to get them swapped out though.

Both cars have creaks from the front suspension, but only when going over big bumps (like speedbumps) and when it's really cold out, like below 10 degrees. It was 20 degrees today and the front end was quiet on my drive home from work.

My rear struts squeak when it's -20 or colder out. Last time I took my car in for an oil change and inspection, they said my rear struts are leaking and need to be replaced. Haven't replaced them yet, putting that off until spring. But after I get them warrantied, I'm probably going to get the Corksport adjustable struts anyway.

Went to the dealer on friday. Of course, it was the single warmest day of the prior 3 weeks, and needless to say they were unable to replicate the noise. Said everything looked normal (duh). I'll have to take it in if/when temps drop again.

Thanks, Grasshopper.

Hopefully you can get it fixed when the dealer is able to replicate the issue. These noises seem to be a pretty common problem...maybe next on the list should be new shocks and struts for my 2, I think.
