Nocturnalspeed's Welcome & Build Thread

I'm an engineer where we have a machine shop at our disposal when there's a free machine so I copied my old 2.5 dmh cutout in a 3" version and instead of a motor I made a lever to attach the wga arm to (just my wastegate actuator from my old hiboost ihi turbo setup). With enough preload to keep the door shut ended up being 10psi. I think the gay ones atp sold with a 90 deg exit were adjustable from lower pressure but this turned out perfect IMO.

I'll try to snap a pic later.

New Parts / Installs

Received my DG Carbon Fiber Grill & Perrin Catch Cans to start touching up the engine bay a bit. I'll be installing the 505 Intake Manifold this weekend, so a catch can was needed asap! I also forgot to order a Subaru OEM Coolant cap for the overflow tank, I'll swing by the Subaru dealer tomorrow and get one ordered.

cant you use the haltech to fix this?

Wish I had some PAR gears to hear :P

Road with CitizenPro when he had his car dumped, which he had to drive everywhere since it was a manual and not electronic. Didn't quite get that first phrase about boost activated more pep taking off etc...

I haven't been able to get on her yet since my car's been acting really funny lately. It's fuel cutting like crazy now and it acts retarded between 3k and 4k.

Haltech is going in after the 505 Mani install, and we're heading to DFW to have Sam dyno tune her for us.....prolly in a few weeks.

Thanks guys, I wanted something clean that's a little different, not to shiny that would take away from the main pieces inside the engine bay.

sheeeesh. way to go makin my car look like crap! (lol2)

gotta say it again, nice build.

i love this build, but stupid question for you.. how does the coolant go back into the rad from that catch can? i know the factory one the feed is at the bottom of the reservoir but i don't understand how it would feed back from the top of the can.

Good question.

The hose that's routed into the tank, goes deep down towards the bottom and is submerged in coolant that I added.

It will work the same way. From my understanding, as the radiator gets hot it will push out the coolant into the overflow. As it cools the vacuum will suck it back in, as long as the hose is submerged in coolant. If there's no coolant in the overflow, it will just be sucking in air......same as the factory coolant tank, the hose is at the bottom submerged in coolant.

^yup, exactly how it works, the overflow is just so the coolant has somewhere to go when it gets hot and expands,
you technically could delete it altogether, but then you would have to underfill the system to compensate for the expansion
