No Spike MBC

From experience please...

Which MBC has shown the least amount of boost spike? I'm in the market for an MBC but don't want to sacrifice smoothness or my engine block in some radical boost spike.

Thanks

Tito

I have the JoeP MBC and autometer boost gauge and am running 12#. The largest spike I've had was maybe 13# at that setting. When running at 10#, I've gotten spikes up to 12#. Pretty good if you ask me.

It's a matter of preference and I'm sure everyone will say something different. Make sure you don't have overly long hoses as this will cause some of the spike. Turbo XS has a nice High Performance Boost controller. It's got a ball and spring mechanism that keeps the pressure out of the waste gate until boost is reached so you don't get wastegate creep. It also uses a bleed valve system. I believe JoeP uses a check valve system. TurboXS also has a standard mbc and a pretty nice dual stage mbc, so you can set two different boost levels, one to race and one as a daily driver. Depends on how much money you want to drop. The standard mbc runs about 60, where JoeP i think is 45? The HPBC is about 100 and the Dual stage is about 200 bucks.

MBC's are all going to spike a little.
Shorten the hose length as much as possible.
My JoeP doesnt spike too bad, and it holds boost well, its also near the cheapest MBC you can buy, unless you did a home depot job.

Thanx for the imput. ANyone know about the Hallman or Davies Devices MBC's???? Their stuff looks high quality, but not my on this forum seem to use it.

Hallman MBC's are pretty nice.
My friend had one on his GReddy turbo miata. He sold it and got a JoeP, and said the JoeP spikes less than the halman. But it may be a different model now, or newer design.

I've got the adjustable Hallman...it works pretty nice and has good spool up.

i made my hoses as short as possible and i got less than 1/2 psi spike.
most of the time it didnt spike at all
