no software upgrade like the GTI?

hey guys,

from a perspective of knowing next to nothing about vehicle ECU's and chips and all that,,,,,

a GTI can very easily be 'chipped', with revotechnik software for example, to give it an additional 20-40ish hp (I forget the exact range). whatever it is, it adds quite a kick to the car, lots of low-end torque.

so from my perspective, GTI is a turbo 4 cyl (well except the v6 trim on a few model years),,,,,, and so isn't the ms3. so why is the same software not available on the mazda?.?

any insight appreciated.

becuase mazda has always made there programming on the ECU's difficult.

Things are starting to change though, and are starting to look up. an AP with correct supporting mods will make a big difference in the butt dyno and overall performance of the car.

Also VW gets 200hp out of their 2L so its easy to get that extra 20-40hp with a flash. Mazda did a good job of getting a lot of power out of this engine already so there isnt an easy flash/chip to get that much extra.

CWPspeed...gotta agree with you there. The GTI claims to be "factory tuned" at least they market it like that but in reality, there's plenty of room for the tuners to tweak that motor. The revo chip actually nets over 50 hp which equates to about 220-225 to the wheels. Intakes do absolutely nothing (except some whooshing noise) where as the MS3 appears to net gains from an intake.

GTI-1st mod is a chip no question
MS3-intake, motor mount

werd.

that makes sense,,,,,,,,, if the ms3 could be chipped for 50 additional HP, it would be almost too fast.,, he he he.

The MS3 already makes over 14 more horsepower per liter, and over 18 more lb-ft per liter than the GTI does.

If the MS3 had a 2 liter engine, it would make 228 hp / 243 lb-ft

Sorry, just bored at work.

I have a feeling in the future we may have something like this. Right now it is either a CPE flash or a Cobb AP.
