Cool car. I had a neighbor with a Z28 who ran 11's with just drag radials. Beastly power indeed.

the :dodgy: is mearly there to show sarcasm. It's supposed to truely be shifty eyes, but it has another following on the nation.

I'm actually quite envious of that car. I wish I had RWD and a v-8, but oh well.

Just thought id give you guys a little update. Ive been mostly detailing the car and starting to do some restoration work since it does show in places that it has 88,000 miles on it. I added a K&N drop filter and tommorow is slated to do the ls1 free mods which should get me anywhere from 8-10whp and anywhere from 5-7 ft lbs of torque which is pretty amazing for free dollars. I ran it at the track a few weeks ago and my best time was power braking the launch at 2400-ish rpms launching with ASR (trac control) on on the street tires in bone stock trim, i didnt even have the k&n in it. I made a 13.576 @ 101.870 with a 2.001 60 foot. I was quite suprised with the 60 foot and if i can pull a 1.9 or 1.8 on street tires i'll be ecstatic. Tires are 275/45/17 firestone firehawk wide ovals. Should be ordering my wheels and tires and suspension kit next week. :)

Little update for those who do or dont care. So far the mods contain...

K&N Drop In Filter
Ported MAF
GMPP 6.0L Spark Plug Wires
NGK TR5 Spark Plugs
Hacked Airbox

Took it out to the track last weekend and pulled a new PB of a 13.179@105.70 with a 2.070 60' foot. I have a B&M Stage 2 shift kit waiting to go in and just ordered some new tires (BFG G-Force Super Sport A/S) and new brakes (Powerstop Slotted Rotors and Z16 CEramic Pads) for it yesterday. Picked up a pair of 16" Stock 98 Z28 wheels to throw some drag radials on and picked up a spare rear end in case this one goes south. Also got it strapped to a mustang dyno a couple of weeks ago and it dynoed 308rwhp in 3rd gear with the torque converter locked, we were picking up 6+ points of knock (audible) above 5000rpms. So looks like after the holidays the next step is a tune, we'll also be changing the shift points and upping the line pressure.

DaleNixon: Im not gonna call bulls*** because I wasnt there, but the officially recorded fastest stock + DR time is a 12.60 set by a 02 35th anniversary SS 6 speed at Atco on dr's.

By the by, i still have to say i miss my speed, i wish i could have kept it for a daily and resolved the SS to weekend use.

Still SLow....Even my 5,ooo pond pig is faster than you.

LOL....I keed.
Glad to see you're still with it.

But I am faster.

I love the TBSS's. My wife wants to get one here in the next year or so as the family vehicle. I live near devil's own and chance at devil's own has a procharged TBSS, that thing is stout. Any numbers on it?

No Dyno numbers as its stated to go in here soon for those after a few more changes, but my PB as it sits is a 12.6@108MPH.
I think it easily has another .2-.3 left in it in tuning...but I will be upping the boost with yet another pulley change and I am going from a 2600 Stal to a 3200 Stall soon.

I will be happy when its an 11 Second Grocery getter.

Im still debating on which direction to go, id like to see a couple of snails on mine before im finished :).

How did I miss this thread? Ive got a real soft spot for the Super Sports. Especially the 35th ann. Editions. Almost bought one, but just couldnt afford it. Absolutely beautiful!

I got a steal on mine. I was working as a salesman at a chevrolet and the original owner of mine (Bought it august of 01 locally) drove it in and sais he needed to trade it in because as he was getting along in years it hurt his back. I then sold him a 2009 Malibu LTZ with all the buttons. Made a little off the deal, then bought the car for what we had it plus doc. So i ended up with trading the mazdaspeed in coming out owing $13k. The mazda pulled $5500 trade in and i owed just a hair undr $5k on it. So $500 down on the ss and moving down the road i went.

$5500 must be the magic number lately, that's how much I got for mine when I traded it in.
