I'm sorry but you have been misinformed by a tire industry pawn. All season radials fail miserably compared to winter rubber on black ice. Winter rubber has vastly shorter stopping distances and all season radials will spin out on corners that would not be an issue with winter rubber. He didn't know what he was talking about because there is a night/day difference.
