i have a chrome one I could snap a pic of, but without ordering it i have no way to snag a pic of a black one
:(

That will work. Can you send me that pic?

I opted for the 03.5 msp knob and I just don't like it. The throw seems to feel longer with rhis knob vs the sparco. Plus I'd rather keep the car with the original equipment as much as possible.

hey boostin... if you want, a buddy of mine has the sparco shift knob and wants the mazdaspeed knob. so we can set something up to were you two just mail each other the shift knob and then you are both happy.

I just bought a Ichibahn knob for my new Kartboy shifter.. If everything works out with the new knob and shifter I will be selling my original Sparco Knob that came with my MSP. It has a little wear on it, the leather part doesnt stay still but it does stay were it is supposed to. It kind of spins but only if you make it. I would sell it for whatever you think is fair for a used so-so knob.

Thanks for the offers guys.
I'd rather start off with a new knob in case this happens again, a new knob will last a lil longer (hopefully).

a number of users have their Sparco knobs go bad the same way, and a member here had the dealer reimburse him for the knob of his choice.

I can get the Sparco knobs in a similar style (the techno style) from my supplier
in black, red, chrome, or blue finish :

for $50 plus shipping.
that red knob would look bad-ass on a red mazdaspeed.

i've never seen one...

..hey, boostin, if you still want that pic i can get it on here tonight from my friends car...

Anybody remember Boy Scouts?

1) Go out and find some good black leather
2) Cut it to a rectangle of such dimension that the edges don't *quite* touch when wrrapped around the knob
3) Run a sewing machine down each edge to get some nicely-spaced holes
4) Lace up into a tube, using black heavy duty thread or nylon cording (sewing store). Ignore your friends' rude comments about appearance, the purpose of a black (or whatever color) leather tube, and the fact that you are, indeed, "sewing".
5) - the hard part - force-fit that puppy onto the shift knob. Use some glue if possible to hold it on there (automotive goop works well, but you should be careful with the application - a hypodermic works if you want ot inject it under the edge)
6) enjoy

Ill post more pics when I get home.

It was badged as a 323 MSP or MS5.. I don't remember which.
I believe it was the concept car for the MSP

sorry it took so long ; here are the pics (guess what kind of car and win a cookie)
