well i noticed on my boost gauge im not getting psi same with my greddy but on my dashhawk it was showing that i was getting over 23 psi coming out. so i guess i reach boost cut and it kicks back from holding boost. what is the problem???

I'm sure this is a stupid question; but what causes boost creep? In my MSP, it was usually attributed to a bad WGA; which I haven't read of the MS3 having problems with. Lately, I've been getting boost cut and can't figure out why (although its only happened 3 times....twice it has happened in the last week or so). The mods in my sig have been on for several months now and only lately have I had problems. It only happens once in a while right after a shift during hard acceleration. Is my Forge BPV just being tempermental? How can I fix this?

I would try taking the Forge apart and check the internals, I had that issue with my Turbosmart awhile back and it ended up being the piston inside the unit had seized so all pressure was not being vented causing the boost cut. once I rebuilt the unit no more problems.

So if I understand correctly, your boost gauge is not getting the same reading as your dashhawk with the greddy boost controller? I've heard that the prosport gauges tend to lose their accuracy over time, so that could be why your readings are different.

But as for the boost cut; I'm not sure if the HKS would experience the same problems as the Forge.

my dashhawk well read that im boosting over 23 psi my boost gauge and greddy well read 0 psi when im boosting and when im doing 23 then i get a boost cut. i just want to know why im doing 23+ psi

It sounds to me like something isn't hooked up right for the boost controller and boost gauge to be reading 0 when the dashhawk is reading 23psi. Have you tried taking out the boost cut defender to see if it drops back down? What do you have the boost set at on the greddy?
I may not be able to help since I'm still learning about the car, but knowing the answer to these might help get you an answer from someone more knowledgeable.

What if you just take out the boost controller? Can't the AP be used to control boost also? If its reading 0psi during boost, then it sounds like its not working properly anyway. LOL.

Not that it helps any, but even with my mild mods, my boost jumps close to 20psi before settling back at 15/16psi. And you have a lot more mods than I do. Do you get boost cut every time you go WOT? Or just once in a while (like the problem I'm having)?

so your saying for me to check my hks bov too???

HKS uses diaphragms so your golden, if it starts to go bad they start to make like a coughing sound and the response is erratic cuz of the leak in pressure, plus they give you a inline filter just so that it doesn't get dust inside.

If your DH is reading 23psi, well I would uninstall everything and put it back to stock, cuz spikes like that is what causes the zoom zoom to go boom boom.

Sounds like the aftermarket boost controller is not plumbed properly. This car does not respond to MBC or aftermarket EBC's the same way as other cars. Manufacturers' standard install instructions do not work properly with this engine. There are threads here (search) on proper connection on an MBC on this engine and it ain't like the instructions that come with the controller.

In the mean time, get the Greddy controller out of the car and then see if the boost gauge and DH agree with each other. Get everything running properly and consistently before messing with the aftermarket controller. Then read the threads on proper installation for our cars.

BTW: A spike to 23, if momentary is nothing to be concerned if the boost instantly settles to a target number somewhat less than 18. Load cut will slap you down violently under most circumstances on stock tune at about 17.5 or so psi.

Sustained boost above 18 is very bad for the engine and for the K04 turbo, regardless of whether you are running the stock ECU, an MBC or any other tuning solution on the stock K04 turbo, IMHO.

thanks guys for the replys well i ordered another Solenoid valve and a new hose and the cobb intake. hopefully when i get the parts in ill change everything back to stock as far as the means of controlling the psi. i was going to do that anyways to stay on the safe side. ill keep you all posted.

UPDATE: well it looks to me that the factory solenoid was broken. one of the tubes snapped right off and the greddy was messed up as well. well the car is running great and i got no worrys. now to do some data logging and see for sure my psi level are good.

Sorry for thread jacking, but Im really curious about something... I removed my boost controller and put the stock set-up back, but now my boost guage is reading 18 psi in 1st and second, and in 3rd it hit 24psi... Why might this be...? Don't want to go "zoom zoom BOOM"... I read on this thread that after awhile, the ProSport Boost guage goes bad if I don't mistaken... Any info or help would be greatly appreciated...

Is everything else stock? Or do you mean, you just removed the boost controller? How long have you had the prosport boost gauge?

I've had the boost guage for quite sometime now, over a year... My mods are Injen CAI, COBB TIP, 3" catless DP/RP, HKS 3" CBE, SU RMM, Denso ITV22's... I removed the mbc and I put the stock lines back to where there supposed to be, and now my boost is hitting above 20psi in 2nd gear and up...
