No Boost Gauge?

I enjoyed my first morning commute with my 2008.5 MS3 (aka "Breuster"). One thing I am curious about is why Mazda left out the boost gauge?

someone had a boost gage that was inserted into the airflow duct on the left side. who had this? i like to buy one
Thanks!

I don't know of too many cars in this class range that have a stock boost gauge, I can only name one off of the top of my head.

Honestly, there really isn't any need for one on a stock car. Most people buy them just to have them. I know I'm buying one just to have, but also to monitior when I'm in full boost, so that I can hopefully improve my gas mileage.

i would suggest a Dash Hawk for this need. By the time you get everything done for the guage you could have gotten a dash hawk with a lot more functions while not tempting your dealership to deny you any warranty work. i am however disappointed Mazda has not done anything as an accesory for one.

The MS3 is very well thought out. Mazda thought a boost gauge was totally useless. On the 2010 MS3 they will pay attention to the early cutoff at 5500 RPM and add more power. Cant wait!!

I just purchased the vent gauge pod and will install a Aeroforce scan gauge into it. Same thing as a dash hawk but in a round qauge that will look stock when mounted in the driverside vent.

boost gauges are totally useless on FACTORY cars as their are no factory adjustments that can be made to the stock boost to warrant an extra cost to the the vehicle. However, the Dodge SRT-4 group of cars have OEM boost gauges, probably for the boy racer owners who want an extra visual stimulus or maybe because makers knew the SRT-4's were probably going to get modded at some point.

If these cars had boost guages, that showed acutal numbers, Mazda would get so many complaints from non-educated users about how their boost is not consistent (sometimes boosts to 18, sometimes 14 etc.). The fact is, these engines respond to so many different factors (especially temps), that the ECU will always change the boost output to accomodate those changes. People would not understand this.

The RDX has a boost guage, but doesn't show numbers, just levels.....

Same reasoning why Mazda took out the real oil pressue gauge in the Miata. too many complaints from folks who don't know how to real the guages properly. Now its just an "idiot" guage, like in my 07 MX-5.

I also have one in the vent pod:

I have a 60mm STRI Premium Gauge. Had a opening and closing ceremony and works great.

I cant justify paying over 150 bucks for a guage even if it comes out and gives me a BJ as its startup ceremony.

i had the center gauge pod but didnt like it so bought the apiller one
