Nitrous on stock mp3 engine?

Has anyone tried this...if not, how do you think a stock mp3 engine would hold with say a 50 shot of nitrous. Any input would be very helpful. Thanx

It all depends on how much you plan on using it. The MP3 has advanced timing from stock. Nitrous and advanced timing are not a good combination. If you plan on doing this I suggest you get your hands on a Protege5 ecu or a J&S Safeguard.

I had a 55 shot of Zex on my MP3. I ran about 2 bottles in it and figured out that if I had a turbo on it I would be faster. The Nitrous is not all that, the only time it really pulled was after you just filled up the bottle. When the bottle was half full on a cold night , you could if the nitrous was even running.:(

Also Charlie P-5 is right about retarding your timming, using the J&Ssafeguard.(drinks)

But if you want more horsepower all the time, instead of having to fill a bottle up once or twice a month, I would go with forced induction.

3 Reasons
1. You get more horse power running a turbo.
2. You do not have to fill the a bottle up.
3. The power is always there.(bluemp3)

Thats just my experience with both turbo and Nitrous.

you could do a 50 shot, no harm done.

if you wanted to go bigger, id suggest some fuel upgrades, cuz youd be running a little lean when on the bottle, i dont think you want to do that.

MikesMazda, one thing, its called a bottle warmer, you can use everything in the bottle pretty much down to the last drop if the pressure is right (i may exaggerate a lil bit there, lol) but it does HELP ALOT and another thing, you had a ZEX kit, pshhhhhh, please dont even call yourself a former nitrous owner.

build the head, forged rods n pistons, 200 shot, awwwwwwwww yeah!!!!!!

thats my goal anyway, one day, one day, 2 stage, 1st stage 100 shot, 2nd stage, another 100 shot, lol, Im doing this for all the nay-sayers.

Your right a dry kit sucks, but if you want real evenly dispursted power, go for directport induction, to me everything on a fogger pretty much sucks. The Nitrous is going to be used in the first two cylinders, more than the last two.

n20 is the Devil. You'll kill your engine. Survey says:

DON'T USE IT

Here's another reason why...from Patio's sig...
"Bent Rod or a 2, working on finding some forged ones."

That says it right there.

It isn't too bad if you build the entire engine around it... My truck with a 150 Wet shot makes for one hell of a surprise. But without all the engine work, it would undoubtedly blow apart.

I would stay away from N20 on any factory motor, but that's just me. The best thing I have learned over the years of messing with my truck is to get everything balanced, and engineered to work together.

Oh yeah, Patio, I have a bottle warmer and with anything under 70 degrees or 600 PSI, I can't do s***. When I started with a fogger kit, all I added were some colder plugs, and a Walbro Hi-flow fuel pump/regulator. That's all I had for about 3 years, and it did the job, even with a measly 75 shot. ;)

Here's what happened to my stock MP3 engine when I ran a dry 50shot Zex Kit...

I ran around 4 or 5 bottles thru it and worked fine until one night I missed a shift and this happened, even though I wasn't spraying at the time my dealer wouldn't cover the damage because they found traces of the foreign substance in the engine. So just be carefull and be ready to pay the price if need be.

actually getting water in your motor will bend a rod, which is what i thought i did but Im having some people listen/look at my motor now, sounds like its gonna be the lifters

survey says X youre wrong buddy

I been running the 75 shot for a while, no problems, just need a fookin bottle warmer, maybe a Gen X2 Kit :D

smooth one buddy, try a wet shot next time :)

To be honest, I never knew we had so much N2o supporters here...its kinda cool. Like Koolindo, I used to hate it, but now I think, if you don't go turbo, it's the only way to get things done. One big difference is if you're running big boost and you miss a shift, all you hear is the blowoff, if you're running big N2o and do the same...you may hear something a little more disturbing :)

If you have cash readily available in case you blow your motor and can afford a new one, then yes, by all means feel free to run Nitrous. It is possible to use it and be pretty safe, you can do this by buying a system that is controlled by a computer. I recommend the Venom Kit.

I've done Nitrous, I've done turbo, and now I'm on NA on my protege and BY FARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR I like NA much much better. More reliable, not as much to go wrong, power off the bat, awesome power curves, awesoem torque curves, and all those neat parts I got to install along with the fact I can beat GSR's. Nitrous is fun but way too expensive in the long run, turbo is nice but too many variables to consider even if you don't and alot of tickering and you are never happy with the setup you have you always want to make a skyline out of a protege. IMO go NA. For me someone who can make a protege go 14's with nirtrous is easy along wth someone who can do that with a turbo just botl it on and go but someone who builds a 14 second NA protege I think deserves more respect as it is alot harder but more rewarding I think. You bolt on a Nitrous kit or a turbo kit and you look back and its bolt on pretty much you fire your motor up the first tiem after building a NA motor and you step back and look and think to yourself look what I did. But hey thats me.
