A JDM Nissan LaFesta, a micro-van with sliders, was spotted in Michigan.

A possible Mazda5 competitor?

not for me... the mazda5 is a much better looking car.

interior looks pretty nice tho, and seating for 7 is impressive for something of that size.

hey it seats seven!

it seats seven and has sliders. that's valuable right there. for a family of five, it 's handy when the in-laws come into town.

I like the way the 5 looks, but I can live with not so pretty if it gets the job done.

it makes me wish the MazdaUSA had included the seventh Karakuri seat in the 5.

Looks like the designer was having a bad day.

its pretty clear in the design that they are trying to keep the lineup tied together. The front end does have many design cues from the Versa. I just dont think overall it works. Its like the chevy Uplander. Probably the ugliest minivanUV ive ever seen.

Proportions just arent right...

Christ, its only got a 2.0L in it. And some people think the 5 is way underpowered, imagine that thing! I'd hope however, if it did come, it would be next generation's version which I assume would look a lot less like a wedgy turd.

Yeah, I agree. Although technology is getting more HP out of smaller engines, still to be seen what its torque can do fully loaded (and with auto-tranny)

Yeah, the sliders are a big plus, but now with 2 kids on car seats I'm less of a believer of a 7-seater on a car this size, 6 is OK for short trips (with my parents fighting to get into the 3rd row) I just don't see seating seven even with just booster seats...

Is there a Renault counterpart?

The Scenic III I believe, it seems that there is a 5 and 7 seater version. If you see it, it is not that difficult to add some design tidbits to a people mover, come on, LOL

My thought with the seven seater, is put the kids with the big car seats in back, and have the oldest with a booster sit between the adults in the second row.

If I got my parents in back seat of a 5, I might not be able to get them out....

OK, yeah, that makes sense, I agree.

Problem is that my 2 car seats still need to be rear-facing, that is why the limited configuration options :(

hey we have the same brand car seat. It won't be long before
those seats turn around to face forward. I think they start complaining getting dizzy as they grow taller and will demand to see the 'cockpit' view.
