Yep, I bought it.

I've got severe impulse control problems. I was returning a defective HD to Circuit City, when I saw it behind the counter. I had to have it. Plus, in a way - it's feeling like found money. See I have a raid5 array with six 250GB drives in it. One of them failed and needed to be replaced. I called my friends computer shop, but they didn't have any in stock. So I went to CC and bought the same drive, took it home, installed it - put the defective drive in the box - and took it back as a return.

This thing is sweet - I have been playing Metroid. It's a demo, interesting control scheme, you use the stylus, and the pad at the same time. Sounds odd - and it is at first - but it becomes intuitive very fast. Gotta love the geniuses like Miyamoto that come up with this stuff.

I also bought Mario - gonna put that in next.

Can't wait for someone to release a linker(romcart) for this thing. I hate spending money on games. So far, I've got the modded xbox (thanks greg), and HDAdvance loaded on my PS2 with a 120GB drive. I haven't bought PSO and the broadband adapter for my GC yet, but I probably will eventually.

Yeah, so - I'm a happy geek. Does anyone else have a problem with buying too many toys? If so - let me hear it - what crazy amount of stuff have you gathered?

2 computers - 2.5TB of disk space. 2 camcorders (8mm and MicroMV), Gamepark32, NeoGeo Pocket Color, GBA, PS2, GC, 2 Xboxes(one modded), .357 revolver, .22 rifle, green laserpointer, HPI Nitro RS4, assorted knives(butterfly, switchblades, one handers, folders, straights, paratrooper, etc.), over 350 DVD's, and 2 cats.

Ugh, there's more, but that was starting to get daunting, and also reminds me of how much money I have pissed away.

Yeah, same here- apparently not. I was just returning the HD, and there it was on the counter - I said "is that for sale?" - she said "Yeah". Then the angels began singing and my boxers got damp.

I'm thinking after Black Friday - they might be harder to get.

I'm getting mine next week and I'm very excited. I'm playing Metroid Prime 2 right now and saw the metroid ds demo. I was sold instantly.

The Target near my work had about 20 DS's in stock as of yesterday...I was almost tempted to get one, but never really cared for Nintendo titles...I'll hold out for the PSP.

i got mine tonight and i'm loving it. i love the metroid demo and that racing game is fun as well. mario is cool although i haven't gotten too much into it and feel the magic is really cool. it's like a bunch of little games to win this girls heart. you have to blow on the screen for some of them ti's really neat. cc had 4 of them when i got there. wal-mart, best buy, gamestop, and eb were all out so i got lucky. anyways, it roxorz

Bought it today, VERY IMPRESSED.. mucho recommended-o or something.. I'm in love with this thing... (and yes, i have a life... this thing is just too cool to pass up...) nothing like playing metroid with a stylus acting as a mouse for viewing 360 degrees, using the keypad to straife around and the L button to shoot...

it's got a laptop-style battery that lasts a very long time and is backwards compatible with GBA games, but not regular GB and GBColor games. the backlit screen is no joke, almost crystal clear and bright as day.

well worth it if you have the spare $149 lying around...

did yours come with a thumb-cover?? Nintendo was supposed to include a thimble with a little tip on it to be used in several games instead of the stylus so you dont have to hold it....it's supposed to be easier to hold, and it keeps the screen from getting greasy from finger prints.

It's on the wrist strap. It kind of ties to your thumb and works great.

The N-Gage is still alive. Not heavily supported, but still alive.

But seriously.. the PSP will be able to play UMD movies (including Final Fantasy: Advent Children, yum), have nearly the power of a PS2 (polygon for polygon, the PSP is actually MORE powerful than a PS2), have Wi-Fi capability, play MP3s... I mean really what more could you want? Li-Ion battery with 5 hours of gameplay not good enough for you. Extra batteries will be available too. All for 185-200 bucks.

We have a DS display at work. I was the one that set it up. Granted it is a cool system, but it's not as cool as I thought it would be..

Also remember that Nintendo used to be the big bad console dominator.. Look what happened when the Playstation came out. I think Sony can, and will, pull off a GREAT system.

Have to correct some info here....

#1. Nintendo hasn't dominated a console race since the NES days....Sega Genesis blew away the NES and SNES, then came the playstation.

#2. The DS is also wireless and can be wirelessly linked to routers for unlimited gameplay over the internet. The N-gage has wireless gameplay features also and it sucks balls....this is not a system-selling feature.

#3. The PSP's price is going to be $200 MINIMUM. Thats as much as Nintendo's last console sold for new and no handheld is going to sell for $200. I'm honestly surprised nintendo sold this one at $150....it should've been $125 tops but there's so much quality hardware there....but thats another point..

#4. Did you want a system to play games or mp3s?? I have a computer, car stereo, mini-dsc walkman and home stereo system to do that for me. why in the hell would I want a $200 handheld "game system" to listen to music on?? Remember the N-gage had a lot of features similar to the PSP and it tanked like hell....it was also priced in that $200+ price range....see a pattern here??

#5. Sure the graphics on the psp are nice but sony is known for making QUANTITY games over QUALITY games...lets see how well their first forray into a handheld market dominated by the same force for 20 years goes....it'll be nice to see.

#6. who is going to watch expensive ass movies on that tiny ass handheld when they can watch them on their nice tv's and dvd player?? Anyone who's even considering buying the PSP is an AV guy and already has a nice tv/dvd system
