NFC Tag for Smart Phones

I was introduced to NFC tags by a friend and ended up purchasing 10, they're about a buck each.

I wanted to share that these simple data stickers automate my phone settings making Bluetooth and WiFi toggling much simpler.

For driving, I programmed one tag. One tap to turn on Bluetooth, and turn off WiFi. Another tap does the opposite. It has 3M backing so I stuck it on somewhere obvious but won't be accidentally tapped.

It's very convenient and neat. I always thought NFC was a little gimmicky when sharing content between phones but automating apps and settings finally gave me use out of the technology in my phone. I do have to keep NFC on, but it consumes much less power than Bluetooth.

Interesting idea. I haven't played with NFC on my Galaxy S4 too much. Just use it to connect my camera to my phone.

I leave my BT and wifi on all the time on my phone and it automatically connects to my car when I start it up. I wondered if leaving BT & wifi on would drain my battery but it doesn't seem to be an issue.

been doing this for a while - one at the night stand one at the bathroom + those in the car and front door.

I had that setup for a while on my old car, but my issue was that I always forgot to tap the NFC tag.
Now that I have a pebble smart watch I always have my bluetooth on so I no longer had and use for the tag.
I would suggest checking out "tasker" for android. it's a fantastic app that lets you automate tasks.
