newly hiboosted

This was the one mistake that I must have done over a year ago and still have not fully cured it. First I adjusted the bypass screw out about 3 turns then tightened my idle screw (allen head) about 1/4 turn which raised idle just enough to never stall. Everything is slightly better since I also routed all my vacuum to a manifold on the break booster line which levelled out idle a little better.>

When my a/c compressor kicks in my idle cycles up to 1200rpms down to about 600 still no stalling but very annoying when sitting at a light. On top of that if my Bass is kicking from the stereo idle cycles even worse. I pulled my throttle body off cleaned it up cleaned my EGR valve and my IAC valve which I thought I had a bad IAC sensor but now I read that it is not functional, correct? I also cleaned my front 02 sensor which seemed to help with the bucking which I have had for a year since I put the kit on when easing off gas at 2500rpms. Could my tp sensor be thrown out of calibration enough to have such an effect on system voltage like it is?

Could I have a bad 02 sensor?

Once this is resolved I also still need the maps for 93 octane and I also read that I could bump up to 10psi. Are the maps any different for 2-1/2" turbo back with no cats. Also I still have no boost gauge and was wanting to do a wideband 02. Any recommendation on module that does both inexpensively or is a wideband more of just a tuning device rather than a monitor. I am hoping to get it tuned and leave it alone and just enjoy my baby. Also I need at least a manual boost controller to up it to 10psi correct.

Thanks in advance

No, PLease do not touch the allen head screw. That will chnge the voltage in the TPS and will screw all the stock settings. Both screws will do the same, they will allow more air, but the idle by pass (the phillips one) is the one to play with not the allen.

I have been getting your PMs, and I think that your intake should be there by next week.

YEAH!!! Welcome to the Hiboost family!

Thanks!! :)

Two days of moderate boost and I'm glad to say no major problems thus far. I'm scared to go much higher than 8psi on stock internals though.

65000KM (i think more) on my kit...and not one issue... i regularily check for bolts that may have loosened... wires... everything .... on not ONE issue.

Wow... I hope I have the same fortune.

How much tuning have you done to the map from Juan? Is there any power or fuel efficiency to be gained by tweaking it a bit or is it pretty close right out of the box?

I'm looking forward to getting closed loop mode working as well, that would be sweet! :)

I am glad that everything is going well. The Map that you guys are getting is a revised map and should be very close to perfect. If you want to having closed loop working, let me know and I will direct you how to do it correctly.

That's awesome Juan, it's definately something I'd like to get working in the near future. I will let you know.

So I threw a CEL last night (not exactly sure under what conditions as i didn't notice it right away), checked the codes this morning:

P0132 - 02 Sens Circuit High Voltage - bank 1 sensor 1
P0300 - Random/Multiple cylinder misfire

Should I be concerned? What could be causing this? The 02 sensor is understandable but the misfire is a little troubling.

I'm guessing i should stay out of boost until this is resolved? Or should I just clear it and see if it comes back?

Did the CEL go away after you turned off the car? How much boost are you running? Was there any detonation?

The reason is that for some reason when you cut the injector wires, the stock ECU works in a different way and does not control the idle as well as when the injectors are working with the stock ECU. Just by allowing some more air in, the idle control motor works better. This will not change the stock idle speed thought. It should be around 650 to 700 RPMs.

On my NA car, I had adjusted the allen screw to try to raise my idle, but it ended up going back down. Is the stock ECU running rich to lower the idle, therefore wasting gas?

E6X....

The code hung around overnight I believe, but I cleared it this morning and it has yet to return.

I haven't heard any detonation and I've been listening closely. Also, I installed my WB02 today and my AFRs are like low 12s under boost.

Juan, do the E6Xs ship with a rev limiter set? If not, how can I set one up?

Edit: Just got home - I threw a P0302 - Cylinder 2 misfire. Most likely happened on the highway but I dunno cause I already had a CEL from my missing O2 sensor.

Hi Def,

I forgot that you have the E6X. With this one you will not detonate. You can run as much as 14 psi. Re gap your plugs a little closer. That might be the misfiring.

Yes, the rev limiter should have been set at 6700 or 6500 RPms

14psi ?? Not without the 440cc injectors though right? At what boost level would I start maxing out the stock injectors?

I just regapped the plugs to .030 - they were closer to .035 before we'll see if this helps the misfiring (I threw another P0300 this morning)

My plugs are gapped at around .23. Try your number first before going any lowre. Most who boost aftermarket around here gap anywhere from .22-.30.

You may want to unscrew at least 2 or 3 turns the by-pass screw in the throttle body. It is the one with the red circle. The one with the phillips screw. Do it counterclockwise until you get a steady idle. Juan

where would this screw be for the 1.6 ? cuz my idle is rough as well
