I am new to the forum, so I guess this is my introduction.

My previous car was a 2000 Civic Ex Coupe. She was a very reliable ride that looked good for her age. Had 75K when I traded her in and got $7,500 (can't beat that!). I looked at new Civics, but an ad on the internet for the 3 caught my eye. I have always considered myself a Honda man. This car changed my mind. The power, looks, and features just can't be beat for the price you pay (5dr, base no extra options, $16,100 after 500 back for college grad). Anyways I have had her for about a month and 1400 miles, and with no problems so far except brake dust and glove box, no biggie. I LOVE this car. Anybody out there who may be on the fence or looking at a Civic, go drive this thing, you will not be disappointed!

I hope to have a lot of good discussions on the board. Thanks for having me!

Nice choice. Looks like you got a good price both for the new one and the trade in. Good job!

Sorry to repeat myself but that definately all checks out to a good deal at least I think. Just for fun I plugged in a 2000 civic ex 75000 miles on edmunds.com and it said the trade in value for my zip code was $6487. That was assuming "Outstanding" condition for it to.

I was very suprised as I thought I might get 6,500 max. Actually that sealed the deal, I owed 9,500 so I flipped 2K negative equity (not included in the 16,100 obviously) into the new loan. I left the aftermarket Aiwa MP3/CD player and speakers but took my amp and sub, it had an aftermarket alarm w/ backup batery, but I dont think that is enough to give an extra 1K. It was in excellent condition though, maybe the market for those is ripe around here or maybe they just wanted me to drive the 3 off the lot. Either way I'm happy.

Without the negative equity I would have liked to get the sunroof and xenons. But hey, even the base model s has a ton of features!

By the way if you wonder why in the hell I would owe 9,500 on a 2000 Civic its cause I got royally ripped off when I bought it. Live and learn, right? Another reason I wanted to dump it while it still had some value.
