are all speed parts interchangable with like a base model Mazda 3? for example: would headers and exhaust that are made for the speed series also work for the base 3. basically is it the same engine and chassis?

No. There are many differences. You have to look at each case.

For the most part entirely different, Yes they are both 2.3L however one is based on normal fuel injection and the other is DISI. I just crossed the intake manifold numbers and looked at their pictures, totally different. The CBE is possibly the only thing you could pull off without heavey modification.
