Newbie Question - MSP Wing Functionality

I just thought of a great prank.

We should fabricate a sticker to slap on the back of cars with "shopping cart" wings.

And I lol'ed when this came up on my search results...

there is 0 use to our wings.....just style points.

a wing on any FWD car doesn't do s***.....unless its real race car

lmfao I love how people contradict themself! The fact is MOST wings are just style points untell you reach a certain speed RWD,FWD, AWD... it doesnt matter. Theirs not enough wind going over the wing to really do s*** untell you reach certains speeds.

true it is a contradicting statement, but on real FWD race cars they have wings on the front of the car where a normal person wouldn't

OK, now that we've established the wing just looks cool and does little else, someone please tell me the MSP's deep front spoiler and side sill extensions actually channel airflow and improve handling...

Do you want me to tell you that, or do you want me to tell you the truth?

hahahaha.
and just on a side note, i think the wing matters on some FWD cars, the ones that oversteer. in my experience the MSP understeers, but very little.

stiffen up the rear suspension a little and it goes neutral.

FYI: Snow tires on the front, and all seasons on the rear in snow = MASSIVE oversteer... who says you can't drift a FWD? lol

this is in the snow, i assume...? [edit: can't read. got it.]
i kind of beat the s*** out of my last car, id mix it up with a few full-lock ebrake pulls to get the rear out. kept things interesting, but the experience came in handy a few times when it would fishtail and i didn't mean it to... like on the highway.

you guys still don't get, do you?
the mazdaspeed protege was engineered under the most rigorous standards of the time. every part of it functional in one way or another. the front bumper channels airflow effectively away from the SMIC. the coolant catch can efectively works by allowing the car to have that "coolant" smell we all love. Transmissions were engineered with brittle LSD's inside to let us know when we are giving too much torque. Rear wind is also engineered with performance in mind, it effectively helps you close the trunk faster due to its weight. there was also improvements in the audio dept. in the Mazdaspeed Protege. at 10k miles, the radio stops working allowing you more attention to road hazards and efefctively minimizing sound pollution related tickets. The suspension was also well thought out, Tokiko engineered specially modified Tokiko Blues, the warn you when passing over bumps at slow speeds by whistling when compressed when cold, this and the Rear Sway bar "clunk"(as wrongfully referred to by some users) will make your journey thru speed bumps that much safer. Turbos were also engineered to maximize performance by releasing "BLUE SMOKE" letting you know you are under hard acceleration(people confuse this with oil leaks). On the same subject, pipes are made of surgically engineered plastic allowing for excess boost to "leak" preventing premature engine failure, together with the bypass valve and the pass-thru wastegate actuator, this system is designed to perform and give you "boost spikes" randomly and as necessary to continue the driving experience. Turkey-like sounds where added to compliment the lack of cruise control. At every shift, it reminds you that you have the baddest most awesome machine on the road.

as you can see....stop complaining about a wing....look at the awesomeness of the rest of the car...soon you will find out that the wing isn't all that important anyways.

I must have missed that detailed biography on the Mazda website?

Oh, and if anybody tells me there is blue smoke coming from my exhaust, I will inform them that I have strategically placed blue neons in the muffler so that it makes my car seem like a blur when I blow by you at 30 mph.

you see, now you are getting it :)

That coolant smell drives me nutz. The wing not so. Style points or practical, I like it either way and the car would not look right w/o it to me.
