Hey guys, The names Thomas, just turned 18 and got my first job :) graduating high school in a couple days and off to community college( 1 mile down the road haha) but anyways, i'm treating myself to a new car. I have a 2002 Chevy trailblazer with 130,000 miles that I use for winter but I love cars and finally I can afford to get one, well with the help of a co-signer for a loan :p anyways, I was stuck on the si for the longest time, but everybody and there grandma has one around here and I love the look of the MS3, so i'm going with it. Now, i'm looking to buy an 08-09. My only concern is the motor or tranny mount, i've read alot about them, and thats holding me back from this car. So what would your advice be? Get aftermarket mounts and install myself if easy enough? Im working my a$$ off for this car, I want it to last, please help :) thank you!

First of all, welcome to Mazdas247! (2thumbs)

The best advice when buying any used car is to make sure that there is a good record of the maintenance done and that it is up to date. Oil changes, air filters, cabin air filters, brakes, tires, etc. If they don't have a record of some of these things you can expect to put a little extra money in to get it in tip top shape.

Speaking to the motor mount specifically...I replaced mine at 80,000 miles with a CP-e 75 duro piece that I got from another forum member here. My stock one wasn't torn or anything. That said, the car was much better to drive after the motor mount was replaced and I immediately wished I had done it 80,000 miles sooner :) so if you can swing it upgrade that immediately.

The only other issue I've had with the car is both of my rear shocks when bad and I replaced them at 80,000 miles. This is fairly common with the MS3 so that would be one of the first questions I ask about the potential Speed if I were to buy one.

As far as wanting it to last, I drive mine everyday and I drive a lot (I'm at 94k miles) with basic maintenance and everything is still running/working fine.

Good luck in your search!

Yeah ill def check those, show me the carfax?! But with the mounts, which would you get? Like I understand there is passenger driver rear and more? Correct if I'm wrong, just thinking that will be must first mod along with those shocks!4
