2002 Protege5 & 2003 Protege Sedan
Hi Guys,

My name is dRu and I just bought my daughter a used 5 Speed 2002 Protege5 Wagon.
It's her 1st car and I'm a newbie to this type of car.
So here's my first question for now...more to come later we get started in Modd'n her car.

We are gonna start by getting some wheels for it. I've read people going 16's & 17's.
She wants a Meaty Flush Fitment; so meaning stretching a tire is out of the question.
So, what size wheel & Offset should the rims be and what size tires and width with get
that look?

Thank's in advance and looking to connecting more on this site as this project begins. :)

Try to get a wheel with an offset around 45 or higher. I am running a 42 offset 17x7 on a 205/45 tire and it rubs when I have people in the back. I also got my fenders rolled and then took a grinder to them so they would basically be gone, still rubs. A 17x7 wheel is the standard on a 205 tire but you can go up to 18" wheel but a lot of people on here (myself included) feel its too much wheel for the car.

So basically a 17x7 on a 205 tire will do the trick in my opinion. But if you are not planning to lower it at all, its gonna look like a 4x4.

Flash5 has it right on.

Not sure if you can see it but if you can notice how flush the rim of the wheel is to the edge of the fender. That is literally as flush as you will get with my specs. You can take a straight edge and it will line up perpendicular. These wheels are FD Wheels from an RX7. They Measure 16x8 +50. I have an 8mm spacer in the rear so it makes it +42mm. Do as Flash5 has stated and you should be fine. As you can see I have a bit of a beaded tire. 205/45. If I had say a 225 45/50 then it would probably rub and I would probably need a good fender roll.

Thank's Flash & DA for the pics for reference as well. I do plan on lowering it but not an aggressive drop.
Drop on coilovers will be just above the tire is what I'm looking at with a minimal gap.
Can't wait for other member to chime in with their set-up pics. I need to read more and look at more
pics of wheels on the P5 so I can determine where I want to be size wise and offsets.
