just wanted to say hello, (not even sure if i am in the section of the forum)my Name is rob i live in Buck county PA and i am about to buy a new Mazdaspeed 3, but i have a few Q's, what are the diff. between the sport and the GT, is the drive train, brakes and suspension set up all the same?? right now i a drive the a ford focus zx3 kinda a mazda 3 couzin, i have a suspension setup from ford racing and some basic bolt ons and it handles with the best of them but i just want something faster and newer. if you guys have any imput or if you can think of anything i should know before i buy please post them up.
thanks in advance

bose sound. leather/alcantara seats. HID's. rain sensing windshield wipers. thats pretty much it. i went with sport...simply cause i figured getting in it sweaty the alcantara would end up being gross over time. where as the cloth...it could be detailed and steam cleaned. regardless of your purchase you wont be disappointed. and welcome to the forums!

yea I don’t need the frill just wanted to be sure I wouldn’t be missing on any performance if I just got the sport.

Welcome to da group. Guard your wallet. We can help you spend it pretty quick. Yep, performance bits are the same. I do like the frills on my GT, though.

Go sport, take the $$ saved and buy bolt ons :D

Getting to the point where it's hard to list all the things I've done to my car.... from the expensive bolt ons to the little free/cheap mods, interior things etc.

WELCOME and show us what you do with it!

thanks for the heads up yea i wont have too much extra for bolt ons and i wont want to void the warranty but i am just looking forward to owning a car that is fast from the factory. i have done the bolt on and mod thing before and just want something that i don't really need to mod to be happy with it.

one more Q, does the speed3 come with allseason tires or will i need to buy some for this winter??

Summer. Mine never even felt solid in moderate - heavy rain. I bought some winter tires used at a good price. I gonna throw them on in a few weeks

Meekie, it seems like you and I are in the same boat sort of, I also own a ZX5 with a bunch of bolt ons. I've had a lot of fun with it a few years back, but now it feels like it just doesn't do it for me anymore. That's the reason I'm in the process of buying MS3, it's another hatch plus has the power I've been seeking to get from my focus.

yea the focus is alot of fun, handles awsome and has been great and the way i see it the MS3 is sitting on the same platform and its one of the best platforms out there. and the thing is fast, affordable and looks sick and thats a hard combo to beat cuase most of the time you only get 2 of the three
you ever on focus fanatics?

As far as buying this car at the start of winter, yet comming on summer tires, make that point to the salesperson. Throw him something about the safety of the customer. Come in with a quote for winter tires (tirerack, discounttiredirect, etc) in factory size and at the very end, ask for that to be taken off the price of your car. :D

I used to be on focus fanatics a while back while I was modding, got a lot of useful info out of that forum.

I'm also from Focus Fanatics. Just sold my ZX4 a couple of months ago. I wanted something fast from the factory too, but have already started with the mods. "I have a problem what else can I say".

thanks for the heads up yea i wont have too much extra for bolt ons and i wont want to void the warranty but i am just looking forward to owning a car that is fast from the factory. i have done the bolt on and mod thing before and just want something that i don't really need to mod to be happy with it.

GOOD LUCK WITH THE NO MOD THING.

I'm almost looking forward to my warranty expiring. I've added the Cobb SRI, Forge BPV, CS MM inserts and shifter bushings so far and only the lack of funds keeps me from getting more stuff.

You can get the shifter bushing and Corksport motor mount inserts for cheap and it will improve the shifting feel. Get the inserts in black not blue so they will not stand out. This is where most owners start modding. The Forge BPV takes 5 minute to install/uninstall so no problem with reverting back for dealer visits. The short ram intakes are a 30 min install/uninstall with the CAI's taking much longer.
